Classifications of Conveying System
Type of product being handled: unit load or bulk load
Location of the conveyor: overhead, on-floor, or in-floor
Whether or not loads can accumulate on the conveyor
Types of Conveying Systems
Chute Conveyors
the simplest example of gravity operated conveyor.
Belt Conveyors
-used to transport heavy materials
Roller Conveyors
a conveyor consisting of fixed-location rollers over which materials are moved by gravity or propulsion
Wheel Conveyors
Used for materials with smooth bottom, wood, fiber or plastic container
Cannot be used for cans, open bottom crates, soft and soggy cartons.
Chain Conveyors
is a type of conveyor system for moving material through production lines. The chain arrangement is
driven by a motor, and the material suspended on the pendants are conveyed
Applications:
Transport heavy unit loads, boxes industrial containers
Moving products down an assembly
Used in warehouses
Slat Conveyors
Slat is a thin, narrow piece of wood, plastic, or metal, especially one of a series that overlap or fit into
each other,
Slat Conveyors are used in horizontal conditions and operating at relatively slow speeds. Generally used
to move items that are not typically conveyable on rollers or belts, due to an irregular shape or bottom
condition
Appications:
Used for heavy loads, conveying hot, oil parts.
Industrial- raw material handling ti finished goods handling
Bucket Conveyors (bucket elevator or grain leg)
It consists of endless chains or belts to which are attached buckets to convey bulk material in horizontal,
inclined, and vertical paths. The buckets remain in carrying position until they are tipped to discharge the
material
Applications:
Commonly used in grains, agricultural.
Screw conveyors
Mechanism that uses a rotating helical screw blade, called a "flighting", usually within a tube, to move
liquid or granular materials. This conveyors originated from Archimedes screw used in irrigation of water.
Applications:
Rotating helical screw blade
Used in food waste
