These release notes announce the 2016 Feature Pack release of the Utimaco Lawful Interception
Management System (Utimaco LIMS).

1 Introduction
In October 2016, Utimaco changed the LIMS release cycle from biannual to an annual software release. The
release provided six months after the annual release, formerly known as “II”, is replaced by a so called LIMS
Feature Pack (e.g. LIMS 2017 and LIMS 2017-FP).
The installation of this Feature Pack for the latest major LIMS release, 2016-II, is highly recommended due to
its stability benefits. Even if the new features or network elements will not be used, known issues up until
that point are fixed and resolved.

Added option to configure the NEID in outgoing HI2 records according to ETSI 102 232. Edit
parameter ETSI_NEID and set USE_INTERCEPTION_POINT_ID = on in both df2_huim505.ini and
df3_huim505.ini. (DD-G1105, DT-G1103)
Added filtering via target type. The same target is created twice with the same LIID, once with
PSTN for service NGN and once with TEL_URL for service IMS. SOFTX3000 and IMS v5.05
assign IRI records according to LIID and the DF2 does not differentiate between NGN and IMS
records (it does differentiate between e.g. CS and IMS). In case of PSTN, the SOFTX3000 is in
charge of NGN records and allowed for target type PSTN, while the IMS v5.05 is denied for PSTN.

Corrected mapping of SIP message header information to “rawLocation” for IMS v5.05.
rawLocation is extracted from either P-Cell-Update (if available, primary source) or P-Access-
Network-Info headers. (DD-G1000)
Improved interception for already established IMS sessions. New parameters are contained in
HI2, if converted according to 3GPP TS 33.108. (DD-G0705)
Improved handling of PANI header information. PANI header information is included in HI2
records, converted according to 3GPP TS 33.108 and ETSI TS 102 232-5 (targetLocation).

Added “Redirection Counter” and “Redirection Reason” parameters for supplementary services. In
case of conversion according to ETSI TS 101 671, the new parameters are converted to ISUP
redirection information. Otherwise the parameters are not in the HI2 records. (DD-G0705)

Support for both services NGN and IMS on SBC CS v5.05. There were cases where the service
changed after a migration and commands were not accepted anymore. Target flags are used
according to active service, either NGN or IMS. (SA-G1018)

Changed the timestamp in the “No active session found” confirmation window to a human
friendly output format. The previous format was date and time as a UNIX value (number of
seconds since 01.01.1970). (SA-G1124)

Added XCAP record decompression and chunk rejoining. Record receivers decompress XCAP
messages now. If an XCAP message cannot be extracted, the record is dropped. XCAP records

Redundancy: New parameter 'Fallback HTTP address' in Node management for secondary address in
BAS cluster or secondary XSP server; new parameter 'Fallback network server' in Config
management for secondary NS. If the primary address cannot be reached, the secondary address is
used.
User location: For locating a target on a specific BAS cluster the new parameter 'AS cluster name' in
Node management is used instead of comparing IP addresses. The name of the assigned node is
saved in the database.
