Reflection (Task 3)
Choose three best activities, explain how well they were organized and why did
you like them. Also, you need to mention the instruction language used for these
activities and how important it is to apply effective instructions for young learners.
During my teaching practice I observed my MST did many different activities in
the classroom. In my opinion, there are three best activities that I liked them the
most and I will use them in the future.
The first activity was about the sound “E” so, the teacher bring a recorder to the
class and she told the students that they must sit in the carpet and I will record your
voice when you say the letter “E” .Then, she recorded each student voice and she
let them to listen how they pronounced the letter to correct their mistakes. These
types of activities encouraged the students to try to pronounce the sound correctly.
In this way they will improve their language.
The second activity was about reading a story about “The Tiger and The
Elephant”. The teacher did pre-reading activity at the beginning. Then, the teacher
described the meaning of Tiger and Elephant and, the students must think about the
meaning of each words and the student who’s say the correct meaning will draw on
the board something about the word and I will ask them questions for example,
what do you think will be the character of each of them? Do you know stories
about The Tigers and The Elephants? After that, the teacher started to read the
story with them in the carpet, and she was pause and ask the students to make
predictions like: “Where did the story happen? “How many animals do you see in
the story.”,etc..
Lastly, she did an activity about preposition. She chose four students to come in
front of the class and she showed them how to move with their bodies behind, next
to, between, and etc…After that she gave them the instructions to move with their
bodies behind, between, next to, on, under, and etc. From this activity students
were exciting to do it and they were understood very fast because of the activity.
Using Kane static learning style when plan for activities is very important for the
students because, through this learning style they will gain the language by doing
and moving their bodies.
