Non verbs
Generally the present continuous does not accept state verbs without a change of
meaning. Some state verbs are: "hate", "like", "want", "have", and "know".
These verbs are used to talk about something that "is" or "is not". For example,
"hate" you have or do not have, but normally you can not be "hating". Neither
can it be "liking", "wanting", "having" or "knowing". Instead of the present
continuous we use the simple present to express these states.
