ONSHORE RELIABILITY, AVAILABILITY & MAINTAINABILITY
(RAM) STUDIES
Onshore RAM Analysis Studies
Examples of
Onshore Studies
RAM analysis has been widely used by MES to enable operators to evolve
production solutions which minimise impact on revenue and expenditure. Total, Laggan-
RAM analysis provides a valuable design review technique to address the Tormore (UK)
following: QP, Mesaieed &
Dukhan (Qatar)
Quantifying the production availability of the onshore facilities; Shell, Majnoon Field
Identifying individual equipment contribution to production losses; (Iraq)
Evaluating the effects of design changes on production availability; OGC, Nimr
Compression Station
Comparing alternative design options; (Oman)
Optimising the spare parts holding; and Tullow, Kingfisher
Establishing performance targets. (Uganda)
TNK-BP, Rusia Kovykta
RAM Modelling Tool (PLASMA) Regional Gasification
Project (Russia)
MES has an in-house RAM simulation package called PLASMA. Key features Sonatrach, El Merk
of PLASMA include: (Algeria)
Inpex, Kimberley LNG
Used within Oil & Gas industry for over 14 years; (Australia)
Evaluation of Production availability and performance parameters; OMV, Al Uqlah Block
S2 (Yemen)
Modelling complex systems using multiple layers of RBDs and PFDs;
Norsk Hydro, Azar
Deterministic and stochastic techniques; Field Development
Series, Active Redundancy and Standby Redundancy; (Iran)
Criticality ranking; Hayan Petroleum,
Jihar (Syria)
Maintenance modelling (Planned, Spare parts and Seasonal delays);
NIOC Yadavaran (Iran)
Operating Policies (Flaring, Load Shedding and Line Packing);
QGPC, Gas
Lifecycle Scenarios (CAPEX, OPEX and Asset Optimisation); and Distribution System
Logistics (Rail and Truck modelling including weather impact) Project (Qatar)
Sonatrach, In-Salah
Gas Compression
Recent Onshore Studies (Algeria)
Total Laggan-Tormore (UK)
RAM study of onshore gas facility at EPC phase. Detailed modelling of
vendor packages and review of design configurations to meet performance
targets.
Qatar Petroleum Mesaieed & Dukhan (Qatar)
RAM analysis of onshore plants following installation of SRU and AGRU
facilities. Assessment included modelling maintenance and operating policies
as well as performing a series of sensitivity cases.
Shell Majnoon Field (Iraq)
Study of existing and proposed facilities. Evaluation of production availability
and identification of main equipment contribution to unavailability. Sensitivity
cases were carried out by assess impact of maintenance crew availability,
operational procedures and sparing.
OGC Nimr Compression Plant (Oman)
Comprehensive assessment of compression station which included analysis
of line-packing, compression system failure, electrical and bypass systems,
different operating modes. Investigation into failure modes of rotating equip-
ment through modelling compressors and gas turbines at component level.
Tullow Oil Kingfisher (Uganda)
Logistics and Transportation RAM study to investigate bottlenecks in crude oil
supply chain and export systems. Study recommended methods to increase
deliverability to end user. Offices in London,
Dubai, Kazakhstan &
