Imagine that you have been hired to make “cold calls” to ask potential

customers whether they are familiar with a new restaurant that has just
opened in your neighborhood. Write a script for the phone call, considering
all the components of an effective communication model (such as sender,
receiver, key message, encoding, decoding, noise, etc.)

Solution
Let us assume Mr. Rohan Peter has been a regular visitor of restaurants in ABC
Colony, and the lead was generated through online directory. Our new
restaurant PQRS as newly opened in the same place which serves Italian
Cuisine.

Me: Hello!! Mr. Rohan Peter.


Rohan: Yes.
Me: Rohan. Hope you are having a great day!! My name is Vivek Keshri and I
have called to you to update you about our new restaurant at ABC colony. Can
I request you to be with me for a couple of minutes?
Rohan: Yes!! But you need to be quick as I am heading for a meeting.
Me: Perfect!! I have noticed that you are a food lover and usually try out
restaurants at ABC Colony!! I am happy to announce the opening of our new
restaurant PQRS at the same location.
Rohan: Ok.
Me: We serve authentic Italian cuisine and are specialized in variety of Pastas,
making us the best in the locality.
Rohan: That’s nice. Do you also serve alcoholic beverages at your restaurant?
Me: We have plans to have the alcoholic beverages added to the menu in a
couple of months, but presently we are working on acquiring permissions from
the local government officials.
Rohan: Okay, I was keen in visiting you but after you start serving liquor.
Me: Thanks Rohan! For showing up your interest with us. I would still want you
to try us out any evening during this weekend and I shall make my chef work
on the best dishes for you to enjoy.
Rohan: Ummm!! I am not sure if I want to try it out.
Me: Well Rohan, let me tell you our ambience is just amazing to be with
friends although we are not having a liquor license at the moment I can still
look into organizing chef’s special mock tails to go along with the food for you.
Let me take a chance to offer a mock tail to you and your accompanying
friends/family on your first visit.
Rohan: Ok. That sounds great!!
Me: Our restaurant also is liked by people on Saturdays. Can I block a table for
you on that day?
Rohan: I am not sure if I will be free
Me: No problem Rohan. I am presently blocking a table for 4 on the coming
Saturday and shall give a call in the morning to confirm you about the same.
Rohan: Thanks!
Me: Have a great day ahead Rohan! Wish you good luck for your meeting
Rohan: Thanks
Me: It was nice talking to you and we shall meet on Saturday.
Rohan: Ok.
Me: Bye!
