READING II Hebrews 4:14-16;5:7-9

TRACT Christus factus est Plainsong, Mode V

CHRIST BECAME OBEDIENT to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name.

MOTET Christus factus est Anton Bruckner (1824 – 1896)

CHRIST BECAME OBEDIENT for us unto death, even to the death, death on the cross.
Therefore God exalted Him and gave Him a name which is above all names.

THE REPROACHES Popule Meus Tomas Luis de Victoria

MY HEART AWAITED reproach and misery; and I hoped for one that would grieve together with me,
but there was none; I looked for one who would comfort me, and found no one.
For food they gave me gall; in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.
HOLY COMMUNION

PATER NOSTER

ECCE AGNUS DEI

COMMUNION God so loved the world John Stainer (1840 – 1901)

GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD that he sent his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth
in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to
condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved.

Ah holy Jesus HERZ LIEBSTER JESU

AH, HOLY, JESUS, how hast thou offended,

that we to judge thee have in hate pretended?
By foes derided, by thine own rejected,
O most afflicted!

2 Who was the guilty? Who brought this upon thee?

Alas, my treason, Jesus, hath undone thee!
'Twas I, Lord Jesus, I it was denied thee;
I crucified thee.

3 Lo, the Good Shepherd for the sheep is offered;

the slave hath sinned, and the Son hath suffered.
For our atonement, while we nothing heeded,
God interceded.

4 For me, kind Jesus, was thy incarnation,

thy mortal sorrow, and thy life's oblation;
thy death of anguish and thy bitter passion,
for my salvation.

5 Therefore, kind Jesus, since I cannot pay thee,

I do adore thee, and will ever pray thee,
think on thy pity and thy love unswerving,
not my deserving.

THE EASTER VIGIL will be celebrated tomorrow evening at 8:30pm, sung by the Collegium Musicum and
