“Lady Masacre” Book’s critical review
This is a critical review about the book “Lady Masacre” written by a famous
colombian writter, Mario Mendoza, it was published in 2013 by Editorial Planeta.
The book’s about that Frank Molina, he is an alcoholic (alcojolic) bipolar(baipolah)
journalist and he lost his job and decided (disaidId) to open an office as a private
praívet) detective in a Colombian’s neighborhood. Until that a day an elegant
(eligant) distinguished (ditinguishd/ ditinguida) woman requests his services
(see:vises) to research (ricetch/ resolver) a crime (craim). It’s about that a stranger
murder (mee:dah/ asesinato) in which there are many mysteries (místeries) to
answer. Frank accepts. (akcepts) Behind (bijaind/ detrás) of the apparent (aperent)
case there is a black case, a love story for a woman who belongs (beolongs/
pertecer) at deep country, a serie (siry) of treasons, (trisonz / traiciones) politic
corruption, (corropshon) traps, (tra:eps/ trampas) massacres (másacors) at the
moon light in landowners’ (lendouners / terratenientes) country houses (contri
hauses/ fincas) that they have sold the laking (laking/ escas@) conscience
(conchens) that they had left (que les quedaba). Molina will start an invetsigation in
that he will discover dark worlds in which take priority (tiene prioridad) the corruption,
the trap and the death. (deff:) The Mendoza’s intention is by means of a book to do
to understand how the nation’s grief and resentment can take revenge and finally
feel free.
In my opinion, I think that the book is the Colombia’s representation, a country that
has had to suffer (sofe/ su frir) and has been seen (ha sido visto) in a
bloodbath (bludba /Baño de sangre more than 50 years ago. The book show
us (nos muestra) the harsh (harsh/ dura) reality (rialery) of the Colombian
politics. Of how a person can do anything (enithin/ lo que sea) to have what
everyone (evriuan/ lo que todos) wants “power” which can summarize
(somaraiz/ resumirse) in a word “Parapolitica” the worse of the crimes of our
nation. Lady Masacre, such as (sochas /tal como) it tittles (tairols/ titula) is
that vulnerable (volnerabol) working-class(clase obrera/ pueblo) that it has
sought (sot/ buscado) vengeance (venyanc) of a lot events (ivents) that it
has had to live. Lady, for me, we are each one of us, for those by misfortune
(misfotun/ desgracia) or blessing (bendición) we had to be born in this
country, Colombia.
In short, the book shows us the Colombian politics’ reality, seen from a different
point of view to which we were accustomed (acostomt/ acostumbrados) to
see, using a coloquial (kolokuial/ coloquial) lenguage (lenwish/ lenguaje),
which it does more understandable (ondesterdebol/ entendible) for all types
of public, Mario Mendoza’s special characteristic. (carakteristic/
característica) Simply (sImpli/ sencillamente) you don’t stop to read.
