Content:
• Digitizing Scanned Map and String Operations
• Data Preparation for Database Construction in Micromine
Creating new project:
• File > Project > New
• Proje Name = “deneme”
• Project Path = “…Desktop\deneme\deneme”
• You can also open an existing project;
• File > Project > Attach
• Select folder you want to work on
Registering scanned map:
• Double click Form Sets > Image
• Double click File and select image file
• Click GEOREFERENCE IMAGE
• Zoom to 3 points at top left, top right, bottom
left or bottom right to read their X and Y
coordinates
• Zoom in several times to improve precision
• Click on the point and enter coordinates
• Zoom > Zoom original
• After registering 3 points, the georeference
window will close, Click OK
• Forms > Save As > Map , Click OK
• Check whether the distance between the map
coordinates and the grid is considerably
small
Digitizing a topographical map, string
operations;
• Click the box at the top left corner and select
[New] String…
• Right click Untitled([Link]) and Save
As Topography, do not forget to select file
type as “STRING” , Click OK
• Enter the elevation of the contour to be
digitized into the box at the top right corner
or properties window
• Click New String on the top left
• Create strings overlying all the contours in a
clockwise orientation for a few days
• Do not forget to SAVE once in a while
or …
• You can change thickness and color of the
string;
• Right click topography in the Vizex window
Properties > Line Options
• In case you interrupt the string before
finishing it, click EXTENT STRING
button and continue
• In case the string has a closed geometry like
a circle, use CLOSE STRING button
Preparation of project data
• Fill out your Analiz, Koordinat and
Lithology files in MS Excel and Save As
“CSV” (Comma Delimited) format with
same names
Constructing Database
Import Analiz File
• File > Import > Text
• Select [Link]
• Start of file = 1
• Text file format = DELIMITED
• Delimiter (,)
• Right click Output file > New
• File = Analiz and Click OK
• Fill in table as follows;

• Click Close – Click YES in the opened
window
• Click Close
• Click Delimited fields and fill out Output
fields by double clicking on the first 4 empty
lines
• Click Close
• Click RUN and files will be imported
• Click FORMS > SAVE AS
• Title = Analiz Click OK
• You can view Analiz file by right clicking
Output file and selecting View
Import Koordinat File
• File > Import > Text
• Select [Link]
• Start of file = 1
• Text file format = DELIMITED
• Delimiter (,)
• Right click Output file > New
• File = Koordinat and Click OK
• Fill in table as follows;

• Click Close – Click YES in the opened

• Click Close

Import Lithology File
• File > Import > Text
• Select [Link]
• Start of file = 1
• Text file format = DELIMITED
• Delimiter (,)
• Right click Output file > New
• File = Lithology and Click OK
• Fill in table as follows;

• Click Close – Click YES in the opened

• Click Close
• Click Delimited fields and fill out Output

• Title = Lithology Click OK
Validation of data
• Drillhole > Validate > Drillhole
• Double click Collar File and choose
Koordinat
• Click COLLAR FIELDS
• Hole Field = KU_NO
• RL = RL
• Double Click Interval File and choose Analiz
• Hole = KU_NO
• REPORT FILE = Validate
• Click RUN
• If the imported files are correct “No Errors
were Detected” will appear
• Follow same procedure and choose
Lithology as Interval File
• In case there are errors, a window will appear
at the bottom indicating the line and the error
definition. Double click these lines and
correct them. Do not forget to Save.
Constructing database
• Drillhole > Database > Create
• Select Drillhole Database
• Database Name = Sondaj
• Double click Collar File and select Koordinat
• Type = Data
• No Filter
• Double click Hole Field = KU_NO
• Double click Easting Field i = EAST
• Double click Norting Field = NORTH
• Double click RL field = RL
• Double click Total Depth Field = DEPTH
• INTERVAL FILES >ADD
• Double click Interval File and select
Lithology
• Double click Hole Field = KU_NO
• Double click From Field = FROM
• Double click To Field = TO
• Click close and OK
• Click OK again
Visualization of drillholes
Drillhole Trace
• Double click Drillhole Trace from Form Sets
• Double click Database and select Sondaj
• In Display Trace window;
• Select THICK as Trace Thickness
• Select Color Coding
• Double click Interval File and select
[Link]
• Double click Colour Field and select TYPE
• Right click Colour Set;
Click ASSIGN button
Double click File and select
Lithology
Type = Data
No Filter
Double click Text Field and
select TYPE
Click OK
Move all files in Found
section to Text section in
Assign window
Click OK
Click and select a color for
Ore (or Coal)
Click and select a color for
Rock
Click OK
Click Save and Close, enter
Colour_Traces as Title
Click OK
• Hole Name tab;
Select Show Hole Name
Double click Default Colour and
select a color
Select Top Label as AUTO
• Hole Depth tab;
Select Show Hole Depth
Double click Depth Colour and select a
different colour you chose for hole name
• Collar tab;
Select Show Collar
Double click Default Colour and
select Black
Double click Default Symbol and
select a symbol
• Click Forms
Save As > Title = Drillhole Trace
Click OK
Drillhole Hatch
• Double click Drillhole Hatch from Form Sets
• Hatch Coordinates tab;
Double click Database and select “Sondaj”
Double click Interval File and select
[Link]
• Hatch Options tab;
Select Use Hatch Field
Double click Hatch Field and select TYPE
Right click on Hatch Set;
Click ASSIGN button
Double click File and select
Lithology
Select Type = Data
Double click Text Field and select
TYPE
Click OK
Move all files in Found section to
Text section in Assign window
Click OK
Double click Hatch button for Ore
(or Coal), select a pattern and a
colour
Double click Hatch button for
Rock, select a pattern and a colour
Click Save and Close
Enter Colour_Hatches as Title
Offset Distance = 5
Hatch Width = 10
Click Ok
• Click Save As
Enter Drillhole Hatch as Title
Click OK
Creating Outline String
• Click the box at the top left corner
• Select New Outline
• Open Drillhole Trace and zoom in order to see
all drillholes ( use Plan View and View All
buttons )
• Click New String button
• Draw a string that encloses all drillholes and
use Close String button right before
finishing
• Right click the untitled string you created
and Save
• Enter a name ( e.g Outline )
