What is Book Talk?

Each month we read and discuss one aspect from a
book related to our preschool themes. Students practice important
reading and writing skills. This year we will practice skills such as:
sequencing events, retelling a story, writing stories through words
and pictures, and much much more. It also gives students a great
opportunity to show off their work.
Myra did a wonderful job with her
drawing. It was very detailed and
colorful.

Check out our Book Talk bulletin board! This month’s book talk was all about the students
and what makes them special or different. After
reading Todd Parr’s It’s Ok to Be Different, students
drew a self-portrait and picked one thing that made
them special. Students were very creative with
their drawings. Also, when picking a special
characteristic about themselves they came up with
unique responses. Students responded with “I am
special because Mommy tells me” and “I am special
because I eat noodles.” Students really enjoyed
sharing what makes them special. Everyone did such
a wonderful job! Congrats to our AM friends: Alexis,
Justus, Logan, Madison, & Addison and our PM
friends: Myra, Hannah Addison, Tyson, & Mia. Their
worked was showcased on this month’s bulletin
board. New friends will be showcased next month!
