I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all of the authors who
had come up with this beneficial module. Their dedication and commitment towards
creating this module is truly appreciated.

My appreciation also goes to the District English Language Officer (DELOs) and
School Improvement Specialist Coach (SISC+) for their continuous effort in ensuring
the success in the creation and implementation of this module.

This module is hoped to assist in guiding Year Three students to improve on their
writing skill. Writing skill is one of the salient skills needed by any individual; and it
needs to be taught in a young age. It is one of the skills required in the English
Language for one to master the language. English has become a global language and
it guarantees a better life through enhanced social and economic opportunities. As a
result, English Language users are in high demand. English Language is highly
attractive because of the recognition it gets in all over the world, it has severed its ties
from any specific culture, making it easily malleable to fit the needs of those who adopt
it.

Learning and acquiring the writing skill requires time as it is a developmental process.
Over the long run; it is hoped with the exposure from this module; the Year Three
students are able to improve themselves and sustain the skill learnt even until they reach
their highest years in any education institution in line with the aims and objectives of
the District Transformation Programme of the Ministry of Education (MoE).

Last but not least, my deepest thanks to all teachers and officers involved in this project.
May this kind of cooperation and commitment would be continued for the success in
education in our district.

Word List

Word list is a set of activities that allows pupils to expand their list of
vocabulary. It is important to remember; lacking of grammar; less can be
conveyed, but with lack of vocabulary nothing can be conveyed. The
activities include pre-test, intervention, and post test phases. In pre-test,
pupils are required to fill in a categorize puzzle and marks will be given
based on how much words are written in the boxes correctly. Then pupils
will be doing the intervention activities which include cut-and-paste, words
attack, and word puzzle. Lastly for word list, we have a set of post test
activities which have similar aspects with pre-test.

Sentence Structuring

Sentence structuring is a set of activities that allows pupils to better


structure their sentences. It is important to remember that lacking of
sentence structure would undermine of what pupils trying to convey. The
activities include pre-test, intervention, and post test phases. In pre-test,
pupils are required to answer questions from word level up until paragraph
level, in a way that is suitable for Year 3 pupils. Then; they have to do the
intervention. Lastly; they need to do post test that has similar aspects
with pre-test.
