Volvo Truck ECU Programming Fix

This document provides information about a programming problem and error 10105 that can occur with FH, FM, FL, and FE Volvo trucks equipped with a tachograph and new VECU. The problem is caused by an error in the VECU software. To resolve it, the MSW on the MID144 module needs to be updated using VCADS operation 36432-3 and selecting error code E1263. Disconnecting the tachograph is required before and after programming. The affected vehicle chassis numbers and part numbers are listed.

Programming problem, error 10105


Concerns:
FH, FM, FL, FE with Tachograph and new VECU with HW part number 21313715 and
MSW part number 21448645 or 21475101.
Vehicles within the following chassis numbers series are concerned:
A 693437 – 695847
B 554459 –564308 (FL/FE trucks are still produced with this fault)
D 132256 – 132517
E 757313 – 759883
M 888611 – 889941
S 888697 – 889648
T 888971 – 889921
W 100248 – 100338
X 888563 – 888824
0 888627 – 889871
6 888709 – 889082
8 888571 – 889961
Vehicles where the VECU has been replaced with the new VECU can also be concerned
by this problem.

Problem:
Not possible to program ECUs or parameters. VCADS error 10105 can appear when
trying.

Reason:
Error in the VECU MSW.

Action:
For all FH/FM according to above and FL/FE built before w1023 (B 564308)
Update MID144 MSW. E-code 1263 is set for all concerned vehicles.
1. Disconnect Tachograph or remove the Tachograph fuse .
2. Run VCADS operation 36432-3 and select E1263 and program MID144
3. After programming remember to reconnect the Tachograph or replace the fuse.
For FL/FE built after w1022 (B 564308): (FST will be updated once a solution
is available.
1 Disconnect Tachograph or remove the Tachograph fuse and try to program again
2 After programming remember to reconnect the Tachograph or replace the fuse

HW 21313715 with MSW 21448645 or 21475101.
