Grade 2 Lesson Observation Feedback

This document provides feedback from a lesson observation of a student teacher. The observer notes that the student teacher demonstrated competency in professionalism, planning for learning, implementing and managing learning, and reflection on practice. However, areas for development were also identified, including making changes to the personal development plan, providing a clearer introduction to concepts, planning a full lesson, clarifying activity purposes in the lesson plan, implementing the planned assessment strategy, including more challenging activities at higher levels of Bloom's taxonomy, and incorporating at least one kinesthetic activity. The observer recommends focusing on kinesthetic activities and lesson structure/planning for the next lesson.

Overview of the lesson: Technology was incorporated in today’s lesson. Great job rewarding
students with stickers.

Areas for development: Personal development plan has seen no changes since the first lesson
plan. You have repeated how you would like to be a good teacher during every lesson.
Did you really expect the students to be able to explain to you reverse relationship without a
teacher’s explanation or research on the students’ part? Review your introduction. What is a
reverse relationship?
According to the lesson plan, the class was to last only 20 minutes. Did you plan for a whole class
period? A complete lesson plan is needed with enough details to be followed by someone else.
Purpose of the activities were not clear using the lesson plan
Assessment strategy was not implemented. According to your lesson, you were to taking
pictures. If you did take pictures, what would have been the purpose of the pictures and how
could they have informed your teaching?
Provide students with more challenging and meaningful work from higher level of bloom’s.
Having students write a division sentence is not a creating activity. If students had to create a
structure using division principles, then yes.
Incorporate, at least, one kinesthetic activity into the lesson. Answering questions from the
textbook is not considered as an activity. Almost the entire class was raising their hands
indicating they completed the textbook assignment 3 minutes after they started.
Focus for next lesson:
Kinesthetic activity
