 Engagement: Teacher will ask all students wearing blue to stand the entire lesson. All students wearing
green will get a homework pass and other students will get candy. Teacher will emphasize a hatred for
the color blue.
 Objective: read aloud and unpacked
 Discussion Question: Was that fair? Is that how we treat people in our country?
 Explanation: Dictatorship & dictator (total power & one person)
 Research: Choice between listening/watching videos, reading articles, or listening to audio clips on types
of government – Students will use a graphic organizer to collect information
 Fishbowl Discussion: Six students volunteer to be in the discussion in the middle of the room while other
students are on Padlet commenting their thoughts/opinions
o Teacher Prompt: Give a pro of both types of government
 Closing: Teacher and student summarize the learning and objective.
