The movie Passengers is about a spaceship called Avalon, which was travelling to a new planet, Homestead II, which was
120 years away from the Earth. This spaceship was inhabited by 5000 people who were sleeping and hibernating in sleep
chambers, and they were supposed to wake up four months before the arrival to the new planet.
The movie starts showing that a meteor hit the spaceship and that caused some problems. One of those problems was that
one of the sleep chambers stopped working and one of the passengers, called Jim, woke up 90 years before the arrival day.
When he woke up, he looked for all the other passengers, but then he realized he was the only one awake. He was alone in
the ship for almost one year. He only had the company or Arthur, an android barman. He tried to fix his chamber, but he
couldn’t. He spent one year alone in the spaceship, and he was so bored that he didn’t know what to do. He was alone, he
needed a real person to talk to.
One day, he tried to commit suicide by jumping out of the spaceship. He didn’t do it and he felt so scared that he ran away.
While he was running along the spaceship, he found a special sleep chamber. A beautiful woman was sleeping in that
chamber. Her name was Aurora. Jim immediately fell in love with her.
While he was drinking in the bar with Arthur, he was thinking about if it was OK to wake Aurora up or not. He couldn’t decide.
But finally, Jim woke her up but didn’t tell her. He pretended that her sleep chamber also suffered a technical problem.
After spending many years together, Arthur told Aurora the truth. Aurora knew that Jim woke her up and she was furious.
She didn’t want to speak to him.
Jim tried many things to get Aurora’s attention back, but she didn’t want to speak to him.
One day, they heard a man speaking. He was Gus, a crew member who also woke up because of a technical problem. As
he was the crew member, the had a special bracelet to enter into all the rooms in the spaceship. Gus died soon because he
had health problems due to the breakout in the sleep chamber. Before he died, he gave the bracelet to Jim to have access
to all the spaceship. With that, Jim and Aurora could fix all the technical problems Avalon had and could save the spaceship
and all the people in it.
In the end, Aurora and Jim stayed together and the movie suggested that they both died in the spaceship. When the rest of
the people woke up, they found a beautiful garden in the middle of Avalon, and Aurora’s book, telling their story.
