Extra Notes
HLTH2204 Semester 2 2018 Tutorial 3
Warm up – chasse, age, court numbers, skill level; hybrid approach is most effective
2 – load legs and explode, hide the skill development under a game, chasse.
Travel and stop practise – random position on the court, 1-2 split, side together side, getting them to practise the technique. Then
get them to move them to the net, not shuttle skill, just pointing, then introduce a shuttle and then it’s a catch. Point number 4
introduce the racket. Point number 5 – would you be descriptive in throwing right 5 left 5 or make it more game style
(unpredictability). As we progress we do open, closed mix of scenarios.
Variations of steps – choose what’s important for the class, choose the teaching style that is appropriate for the specific class,
traditional or SEPEP.
2B – generic efficient movement dot points. Kids won’t have them nowadays. Each kid has different movement skills, how to adapt
to reach the same level. Identify drills that will allow success for different athletic abilities; differentiate the challenges and drills so
that all people can reach the philosophy of developing and achieving success in PE.
Response from the Drop shot – serve, drop shot, play it clear then rally.
