Opening Older Files in PIPE-FLO Professional 16

Opening PIPE-FLO Professional 15, 14, and 12 Files

PIPE-FLO Professional 16 will directly open files originally created in all major and minor versions of PIPE-FLO Professional 15, 14, 12 without
the need to make changes to the model. See Release Notes for each version to see changes in features and calculations.

Opening PIPE-FLO Professional 2009 (Version 11.01) Files

PIPE-FLO Professional 16 will directly open files originally created in PIPE-FLO Professional 2009 (version 11.01). The following notes are
applicable:

In order to support significant improvements to the overall program, some changes were made in version 12.0 that are not compatible
with PIPE-FLO Professional 2009 files (version 11.01). The 2009 files are translated into the new format when they are first opened in
PIPE-FLO Professional 15 and may result in some changes to the model. If changes are made, a text file is generated giving a detailed
explanation of the changes. These changes must be evaluated closely by the user to see if the changes are acceptable or if additional
changes need to be made.
PIPE-FLO Professional 15 now uses a new default directory for data tables. It is recommended that any Catalogs and Tables (Pipe,
Fluid and Valve) for the imported 2009 file FIRST be moved to the new directory before opening the file. The new default directory is C:\U
sers\Public\Documents\My Engineering Files, which can also be accessed using the Libraries path: Libraries>Documents>Public
Documents>My Engineering Files.
Once a 2009 file has been opened and saved in PIPE-FLO Professional 15, it cannot be re-opened in v2009. For this reason, a backup
of the 2009 file is created when first opened in PIPE-FLO Professional 15. The backup is located in the same directory as the original file
and is named: filename.v2009backup.pipe.
For more details on what changes may occur when importing a 2009 file, please refer to the Help File page titled, “Import a File from a
Previous Version of the Software” located under the File Operations section.

Opening PIPE-FLO Professional 2009 (version 11.00) and Pre-2009 Files

Files originally created in PIPE-FLO Professional 2009 (version 11.00) and older will first need to be opened and saved in PIPE-FLO
Professional 2009 version 11.01 before being opened in PIPE-FLO Professional 16. For information on importing files created in pre-2009
versions of PIPE-FLO refer to Engineered Software's Knowledge Base articles at http://kb.eng-software.com/.
