Pile Lateral Capacity Analysis

The document describes the calculation of the lateral capacity of piles driven into different soil strata. It provides calculations for piles in clay with N-values ranging from 2 to 15, as well as piles in sand and medium dense sand. The calculations determine parameters like soil constant K, depth of fixity R, and allowable lateral load Qa for both fixed and free head piles using equations from Indian code IS 2911. The allowable loads range from 0.02D to 0.167D tons depending on the soil strength and pile head fixity condition.

FOR FIXED HEAD PILES

As per Figure 3 of Reference mentioned above,
For L1/R = 0.0, Lf/R = 2.0
Therefore, length of fixity,
Lf = 2.0 x R = 12.5 D (where D is pile diameter in cm)

Therefore, length of fixity = Lf = 2.2 x T = 2.2 x 3.6D0.8 = 8D0.8
