iv
The BIGGER picture

This publication is a short read, as I believe life’s most precious jewels

should be simple and easy to understand. By reading this publication
you’ll likely learn things about your past, present and future that may
alter your view of life, religion, and God. More importantly, you will be
presented with a revelation of fear that could make your life easier and
more satisfying.

Before you reject or embrace the contents of this book, I implore you
to review the facts objectively. As the focus of any investigation must
begin through unbiased lenses. If the evaluation of fact or fiction flows
through legalism, religiosity or even pain, we corrupt due process. Such
corruption only hurls us further from actual truth.

In the same vein, if we cleave to a faith that cannot withstand the

test of due process then we are relieved of the burden to share our faith.
Whether you believe in the writings of the Bible or not has no benefit
when conducting an honest and unbiased investigation. I desire that
you complete this scientific study about God, Fear, and Man--and then
decide what truth is.

v
Buried Treasure

I would like to begin by drawing your attention to a passage of scripture

that I extracted from a book called the Holy Bible. The scripture was
written by a man called Paul the Apostle. The verse (2 Timothy 1:7)
reads as follows; “For God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power
and love and a sound mind.”

The traditional use of this verse is to focus on the fact that we should
not be walking in fear or be afraid. However, this does not solve how to
rid ourselves of fear. A simple acknowledgment of the presence of fear
does not root it out.

While this scripture has been a source of encouragement for centuries,

this verse has even more to offer. I believe embedded within this bible
verse is a revelation that could change your entire concept of fear, thus
giving you an opportunity to live a powerful and abundant life.

For this reason, I invite you to join me on a quest to discover one of

God's greatest riches hidden deep inside of every human being.

Clues

I
t is not unreasonable to at least consider the writer’s (Paul the
Apostle) view of fear as shared in the bible verse 2 Timothy 1: 7).
For in doing so, we may discover the writer's truths concerning
fear to be our own truths (as opposed to what our understanding may
be).

When we find out another’s realities, we reserve the right to reject

or embrace those realities or truths. In the case of this book, you the
reader have the right to reject or embrace Paul’s stance on fear as you
finish reading this publication.

To help you make the best conclusion about fear, below I’ve listed
three clues which I have lifted from the passage at 2 Timothy 1:7. These
clues are numbered below and will serve as a compass capable of leading
anyone to a moment of embrace or rejection.

The three clues below merely reveal the writer's truths in the scripture
mentioned above. The commentary attached to each clue is objective
and based on an honest explanation of the writer's facts--not my own.

1
FEAR CODE

Clue #1: God is not responsible for our fears. Whether one believes the
Bible is a hoax or truth, the writer of this verse has stated that we did not
inherit “fear” from God. Therefore, we can deduce from this passage that
Paul's audience is at least capable of experiencing fear.

Clue #2: Man receives the spirit of fear (but not by God): the fact that God
is not the giver of fear does not eliminate the fact that fear was given to
humanity from someone or something—at least in the eyes of the writer.
Therefore, if we did not receive fear from God, from whom did we receive
fear?

Clue #3: Fear is a “spirit”: The writer has categorized fear as a spirit. How
a person defines “spirit” is not as relevant as the category which the writer
has placed fear. The categorical placement of the term “fear” has left a set
of fingerprints that can reasonably point us to more information about fear
itself.

Now that we have reviewed the three details (or clues) about fear, we
can drill down into the details for more information. Hopefully these
clues will help you discover who or what is responsible for infecting
Paul's audience with a contaminant called fear. I must warn you, what
you may learn about fear could be right next to you or inside of you.

2

The scene of the crime

I
n order to better understand fear, it must be traced back to it’s
beginnings. Without knowing where fear came from, we are
utterly helpless to overcome it. Simply put, we must return to
the scene of the crime. I invite you to follow me to the scene of the
crime (i.e., a placed called The Garden of Eden).

It is “in the beginning” (according to the Bible) where we are first

introduced to earthly fear. Adam and Eve—a couple who alone have
inherited a renovated earth—are on the run. They have disobeyed God’s
command to not eat of a tree called “the tree of the knowledge of good
and evil” and are now “afraid”.

In the book called Genesis located in chapter 2 verses 8 through 10, we

read: "And they (Adam and Eve) heard the sound of the Lord God walking
in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid from the
presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. Then the Lord
God called to Adam and said to him, 'Where are you?' So he said, 'I have
heard your voice in the garden, and I was afraid'…”

These few verses are the culmination of events that Christendom has
coined as “The Fall of Man”. This doctrine rests upon the fallen state of
man as a result of Adam and Eve’s disobedience, therefore illuminating

3
FEAR CODE

the need for man to be rescued from imminent condemnation (i.e.,

"redeemed" by God’s Son, Jesus Christ who the Bible declares as a
worthy sacrifice for the sins of the world and rose from the dead with
power).

The fact that Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden tree was not the only
deal breaker in the garden. It was their response to God after their act
of disobedience that would have far reaching consequences.

Looking further at the Genesis story, we see that even in their

disobedience, God provided slain animal skins to temporarily cover
Adam and Eve’s naked bodies. The animal coverings typify God's
covering grace for people who are covered in the stain of sin and shame
(Genesis 3:21, Romans 6:23).

According to the bible, the blood of animals could not cover or atone
for the impact of fear (Hebrews 10:1-4). The experience of fear caused
a relational break between God and Adam.

While Adam and Eve were accustomed to going on walks with God
"in the cool of the day" (Genesis 3:8), this time when God came to
commune with them they could not bring themselves to face God out
of fear. Fear pushed Adam and Eve to hide or isolate themselves from
God. Outside of God’s covering, man will die internally and outwardly.
For God himself stated (before The Fall), "It is not good for man to be
alone" (Genesis 2:18).

We can also see that fear--through the eyes of Paul the Apostle is not
geographically or chronologically constrained. The mention of fear in
Paul’s day is thousands of years after mankind’s first experience of fear
in the Garden of Eden (according to a chronological span of time from
the writer’s perspective) yet it is still a persisting issue in today’s would.
Whether a person agree with the Bible or not, we can likely agree that

4
THE SCENE OF THE CRIME

fear is real and has been here for quite some time.

An understanding of how fear moves throughout the corridors of

time is of necessity. After all, there were no cosmic mail carriers that
delivered fear across the galaxies of time from the Garden of Eden to
Paul's audience.

How did fear travel through large spaces of time into our present age?
How did fear pass from Adam--who had never before experienced fear
prior to the Genesis story--through time into the present? How did
Adam then ‘give’ fear to his offspring? I believe the answer to that
question has been uniquely placed inside of us. That answer is revealed
through a scientific discovery called epigenetics.

If you're not familiar with the term "epigenetics" this is a great time
to pause (eat, check your phone messages, see after the kids, make
some tea, use the bathroom etc.) before delving into what I believe is
the most exciting part of this book. And that part begins with the next
chapter.

Introducing Alzehimer's

I
n order to fully grasp the power of fear (and our inherited
ability to conquer fear), you will need a simple explanation
of epigenetics. Allow me to introduce you to an example of
epigenetics in motion. Consider Alzheimer’s—a neurological disease
that progressively destroys memory, cognition and mental health.
Alzheimer’s disease is actually a gene (APOE-epsilon-4 Allele Gene)
that modern research has shown to be influenced by ancestral and/or
environmental influences (i.e., social influences, weather, dietary
intake, ancestral, etc).

When a person is born with a gene such as the Alzheimer’s gene, they
have what is called a genetic disposition. The environment plays a
significant part in bending that disposition toward expressing itself
through disease or simply remaining dormant.

At the University of New England Center for Global Humanities

(October 14th, 2013), Dr. Neal Barnard (Best Selling Author of the
book Power Foods for the Brain and Founding President of Physicians
Committee for Responsible Medicine) explained that a person has 3
times the risk of developing Alzheimer’s if one of his/her parents had
the gene. If both parents had the gene, the risk was said to be 10 times to
15 times the risk. This would seem to imply that our risk of developing

6
INTRODUCING ALZEHIMER'S

Alzheimer's disease is solely tied to whether we've inherited it from our

ancestors.

Dr. Barnard—one of America’s leading advocates for health and

nutritional research—highlights the impact nutrition has on our long
and short-term cognitive abilities. Simply put, Dr. Barnard’s assertion
is that both our family history (inherited) and nutritional intake
(environmental) can impact the expression (manifestation of diseases,
illnesses linked to a specific gene) of already existing genes (good or
bad).

This means that a person that has already inherited the Alzheimer’s
gene is not bound to succumbing to Alzheimer’s disease (I discuss
this at length in my book Lifesaving FAQs of How Food Reversed My
Brain Damage). For decades it was believed that inherited genealogy
was final. However, modern and more accurate research technologies
have revealed that heritable genes can be changed. A person who has
inherited the Alzheimer’s gene (or may be at risk) has the power to
influence whether or not the Alzheimer’s gene is expressed.

Researchers and scientists have long discovered that genes can pass
down from person to person within a single family tree. However, the
proof of genes being reversible or transferable has not always existed.

In 1958, British Molecular Biologist and Neuroscientist Francis Crick

first stated the Central Dogma. The Central Dogmas is a theory that
suggests our genetic makeup is final and irreversible. Humans were
therefore understood as victims of genetic inheritance or luck of the
draw. While this theory gained momentum throughout academic
circles, the theory would be challenged over time.

To sum it all up—certain environments or circumstances can cause

chemical changes in our bodies that switch certain genes (either

7
FEAR CODE

bad/good) on and off. Bad genes can be diseases or terminal illnesses

and so on. Good genes can be genes that help us live ‘a more abundant
life’ (John 10:10). Now, let’s delve into how all of this relates to fear.

8
4

Shocking fear

I
n 1967 best selling author and internationally recognized biologist,
Bruce Lipton, Ph.D. performed a groundbreaking experiment.
Through his experiment, hoped to prove that genes were
environmentally expressive rather than irreversibly dominant.

To begin the experiment, Dr. Lipton placed a single stem-cell in a

petri-dish. As expected, the cell divided every 10 to 12 hours according
to Dr. Lipton--totaling 50,000 cells in a week. The 50,000 cells that
formed from the one stem-cell to start the experiment were genetically
identical to the first stem-cell placed in the petri-dish.

Dr. Lipton went on to divide the 50,000 cells into 3 different petri-
dishes. Each petri-dish contained different environments. However,
the cells were all from the same original group of cells. If Francis Crick’s
Central Dogma was correct, the cells would generate cells after their
origin, despite the varying environments. However, that was not the
case.

Despite the fact that all of the cells were genetically identical to start,
each group of cells produced after its own environment rather than their
original genetic association. The cells expressed themselves according
to their environments.

9
FEAR CODE

This amplified the fantastic possibility of changing or reversing

inherited genes linked to physical and neuro-degenerative diseases
(i.e., epigenetics). The environment therefore, is the leading provider
of information communicated to our cells. Such information can
determine how our genes are manifested.

If a person understands how to leverage their external surroundings

to impact their genetic code, (i.e., people, places, climate, social etc)
they have the power to 'rewrite their future' (Proverbs 18:21).

***

A brief understanding of genetic inheritance will shed some light on

why the writer Paul referred to fear as something “given”.

Adam and Eve were the first biblical humans to experience fear in our
age of creation. A “fear” that the writer (Apostle Paul) calls a spirit.
That “spirit of fear” the Apostle Paul spoke of was something invisible.
One plausible option is that this invisible spirit was a heritable gene
that passed from Adam and Eve into and throughout humanity. But
before you decide to formulate your opinion about what you’re reading,
allow me to present unbiased research as my closing argument.

A 2014 study published in Nature Neuroscience reveals how fear can

actually be inherited. In this study, (one of many studies centered
around fear and genetics) scientists trained mice to fear a particular
scent. The scent (the chemical acetophenone) produced the pleasant
smell of cherries and orange blossoms. The mice were given an electric
shock each time they were introduced to the smell. The shocks caused
the mice to experience high levels of stress i.e., shaking and nervousness.
Over a period of time, the electrical shocks were no longer needed. The
smell of acetophenone alone was enough to cause the mice to shake in
fear. However, that was only the beginning of the experiment.

10
SHOCKING FEAR

The offspring of the mice (children) and even the next generation
(grandchildren) inherited the same fear without being introduced
to a single single shock. The next generation of mice were never
shocked yet each of the mice began to shake in high levels of fear
upon smelling the chemical. The next generation mouse had become
genetically conditioned to experience a fearful response to the chemical
acetophenone.

Researchers then examined the neurological receptor needed to smell

the chemical acetophenone and discovered it had been changed in the
mice. This change (methylation) could easily be traced to the mice at
the start of the experiment. The brains of the mice rewired itself to
accept that a sweet smell was now dangerous.

Additionally, Rupert Sheldrake, a British Biologist, wrote books such

as A New Science of Life (1981) and The Presence of the Past (1988) which
produced undeniable evidence of how memories of fear in humans
can be inherited (Recommended Source: New York Times Bestselling
Authors, Deepak Chopra, MD and Rudolph E. Tanzi, Ph.D. of the book
Super Genes).

Now that we've learned how fear is genetically passed down through
generations, let's go even deeper.

11
5

Historical infection

A
dam and Eve’s experience of fear opened the door for all of
mankind to be infected by fear genetically. Hence the writer's
reference to fear as a "spirit"--an invisible contaminant of
man's biological qualities (2 Corinthians 10:4). Whether a person
is afraid of love, success, commitments, crowds of people, spiders,
sickness, children etc., the potential to be afraid began in the Garden of
Eden—at least from Paul’s vantage point.

There are billions of people around the world who experience fear and
internal conflict that began with their ancestors. Many churchgoers or
Christians refer to inherited genealogy as generational and bloodline
curses (topics I will cover in another publication). Similarly, a pregnant
mother can binge drink alcohol or abuse drugs and the unborn child
can inherit the same addictions. Numerous examples exist of family
members experiencing reoccurring bouts of addictions and suicide
across generational lines.

If it has been scientifically proven that our memories and the effect
of our daily experiences can be passed down into future generations,
this would explain how the “spirit of fear” has managed to survive the
passage of time from Adam and Eve to Paul's text and into our day.

12
HISTORICAL INFECTION

Not only has fear survived, but it holds a power even greater than
genetics. Mounting evidence indicates that emotional stressors such as
fear of a particular disease itself (an example being Alzheimer's), can
make a person more likely to succumb to the disease. I go deeper into
this aspect of scientific research in my book Lifesaving FAQs of How Food
Reversed My Brain Damage. Fear has the power to literally kill.

Fear has withstood the test of time and proves to have the greatest
impact on our biological health, even unto death (Deuteronomy 30:19).

13
6

Old baggage

T
he transferable dynamic of fear is far reaching. It is
possible that one’s current internal struggles (addictions, lusts,
insecurities, failures, trauma, etc) may be rooted in someone
else’s experiences (dead or alive). However, this does not make us
victims.

For this reason, the Apostle Paul announces what God is responsible
for giving us which is a spirit of power and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:
7). Both are must haves when it comes to breaking inherited trauma
or conflict that prohibit many people from living a truly abundant life
(John 8:36, 10:10).

In the same book from which Paul the Apostle speaks from (The
Holy Bible)--there is a woman who bore children that inherited an
internal struggle. Her name is Rebekah and she was pregnant with
twins. However, this was not your average pregnancy.

Rebekah experienced birth pains (pains or discomfort) and cried

out to God concerning the struggle in her womb (Genesis 25: 21-26).
The Lord answered her by saying that her struggle was linked to the
conflict between her two unborn sons who would grow to hate each
other. But how could two unborn babies consciously hate each other

14
OLD BAGGAGE

without without entering the world?

It is easy to determine that the conflict inside Rebekah’s womb was

inherited. Allow me to explain.

Rebekah’s husband Isaac is the younger brother of a man named

Ishmael. Growing up, Isaac and Ishmael had bitter relations (Genesis
21:9-21). The deep emotional conflict Isaac experienced with his
brother (I believe) passed from his seed into his wife’s belly. To many
Christians, this sounds strange. However, inherited trauma or conflict
is common knowledge. But there is more to this story.

Although Isaac’s children (Jacob and Esau) inherited their father’s

struggle, there is a further dynamic that proves we are not victims to
our inheritance. The story concludes with the power of love silencing
the feud between the two brothers who once hated each other before
birth (Genesis 33: 1-4).

New York Times Best Selling Author and globally renown physician,
Dean Ornish declared “I am not aware of any other factor in medicine
that has a greater impact on our survival than the healing power of love
and intimacy” (Love and Survival-- 8 Pathways to Intimacy and Health).
In Jacob and Esau's case, we see a powerful example of the medicinal
power of love. For it is love that played the critical factor in breaking
Rebekah’s son’s free from conflict that could be traced back to their
grandparents (Abraham and Sarah).

Rebekah’s story is scientific and biblical proof that the inheritance of

old baggage is not an excuse to remain broken vessels (Jeremiah 18:4).

15
7

Hell Bent

R
eflecting on the prior stories and research studies in this book
and others I have written, we are enlightened to a powerful
connection. Yet the challenge many professing Christians face
is accepting that God is in science and that science is not a denomination
or any religious dogma. Rather it proves why and how God is indeed
Almighty.

It seems that certain religious sects are hell-bent upon restricting

God to stained-glass windows, old pews and altars. It is as if a matured
understanding of God’s creation diminishes the power of God. Put
another way, the interpretation of the source behind the miracle makes
the miraculous void. Nothing could be further than the truth.

If indeed the Bible is truth and we are of God’s image (Genesis 1:27),
why would God condemn his people for discovering the depth of his own
creation? Even earthly parents yearn to pour themselves out to their
children. This blatant rejection of learning more about God’s creation
is also rooted in fear.

While the concern that science will lead humanity to attempt to be

like God is a valid one (as the serpent said to Eve in the Garden; Genesis
3:5, Isaiah 14:14), the end result is not to become gods ourselves, but

16
HELL BENT

rather to point us back to the Creator and reestablish communion with

God in 'the cool of the day' (Genesis 3:8).

For some preachers, the thought of promoting a more creative and

redemptive God means having less control. A smaller understanding of
God’s creation makes it easier to keep the masses addicted to watered
down doctrines best suited for weak and itchy ears (2 Timothy 4:3).
However, it is the knowledge of God's design that actually solidifies the
sovereignty of God.

The perpetuation of a limited God throughout many Christian

churches can impact the health of those who are subject to listen.
If a message of hope (the Gospel) has been preached through fear, then
the people will die. I have heard countless stories of congregants who
have left churches (i.e., religious institutions) in hopes of finding a
more genuine version of God.

For centuries the church has placed greater focus on ecclesiastical

issues and lesser interest on a bigger God, which I believe explains why
the “church” remains one of the unhealthiest institutions on the earth
(physically and mentally).

If the people continue to hear a gospel preached with fearful limita-

tions, the people will remain sick and die. Sadly, statistics and studies
reveal why people who go to "church" may be more likely to die from
premature deaths in comparison to people who don’t attend church (a
topic I will solely address in a future publication).

A limited gospel is a half-truth—which is a lie (Galatians 1:8-9). God

wants his creation to know Him (John 17:3, Philippians 3:10). God's
creation holds the key to God's personality and suppressing God's
creation leads to deeply corrupted hearts and wickedness (Romans
1:18).

17
FEAR CODE

In his closing remarks at the 2017 Alumni Lecture Series (Seattle

School of Theology and Psychology), Dr. Cornel R. West (AB, Harvard
University/MA, PhD, Princeton University) mentioned the reoccurring
exodus of congregants from churches who thirst for the freedom to
experience God’s truths.

If the one true God were revealed (through science and/or sound doc-
trine), man’s dependency would be thrust toward heaven rather than
best selling methods, church growth strategies, tithes and offerings,
memberships, etc. For it is written: "My people shall die because of
their lack of knowledge" (Source: The Bible, Hosea 4:6).

18
8

Broken harmony

I
find it interesting that science is defined as being the study of the
structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through
organized study (i.e., observation and experiment). Similarly,
when a person searches the scriptures to prove doctrinal or disprove
doctrine, they are using a basic scientific method highlighted even in
the Bible (2 Timothy 2:15, Isaiah 28:10, Acts 17:11).

Yes, there are many scientific claims and unmerited research that
aren’t credible. The same is with biblical doctrine (1 Timothy 4:1).
However, we are called to discern between what is true and what is
not (1 John 4:1).

It is quite remarkable that some of the greatest scientific discoveries

have been made within the field of neuroscience (a field of scientific re-
search that encompasses the revelation of our minds i.e., brain/central
nervous system). Without such research, man does not stand a chance
when it comes to conquering the mental battlefield (1 Corinthians 2:16).
We can therefore see why the divide between professing Christians and
the scientific community is such a critical disconnection (Amos 3:3).

If the Scientific and Christian community walked in harmony, both

communities would equally prove that God is real. On the flip side,

19
FEAR CODE

if both communities remain divided, billions of people may never

experience the “sound mind” which God has given us to be free from
the chains of fear.

Final thoughts

I
sure hope you enjoyed this book. More than anything, I am
thankful that you took the time to read this book. That means
a lot to me.

If you have questions about what you’ve read, please feel free to reach
out to me. I wold love to hear your thoughts.

My prayer is that you come to know the one true God. A God who is
not confined to church buildings (Acts 7:48). For science allows us to
appreciate a God who is bigger than we could ever imagine.
