Overview of Muscular Tissue Types

This document discusses the three types of muscle tissue: skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle, and smooth muscle. Skeletal muscle is voluntary striated muscle attached to bone that functions in movement, posture and expression. Cardiac muscle is also striated and functions to involuntarily pump blood through the heart. Smooth muscle has spindle-shaped cells and is involuntary muscle that aids in peristalsis and is found within blood vessels and hollow organs.
