Cooling Tower Questionnaire Form

This document contains a questionnaire for collecting information about cooling towers. It requests data on the plant name, contact information, key personnel, details about the cooling water systems including the number of systems, their uses and characteristics, usual problems, and treatment methods. It also includes a section for water analysis with fields for parameters like pH, TDS, alkalinity, hardness, important ions and corrosion inhibitors. Descriptions are provided for alkalinity and hardness. The questionnaire aims to gather comprehensive technical data on the cooling towers to facilitate their treatment.

3, [Link]: The three basic sources of alkalinity in water are:

Alkalinity resulting from the bicarbonate ion (HCO3 -), the carbonate ion (CO3 =), Hydroxyl ion
(OH -).The amount of each of these in water can be determined by titrating with an acid to certain
pH levels (end points) using phenolphthalein (P alkalinity) and a methyl orange (M alkalinity) end
points.

5. Hardness: The presence of calcium (Ca2+) and magnesium (Mg2+) ions in a water supply is
commonly known as "hardness." It is usually expressed as parts per million (ppm).
