Nethercott—Science
blogs.lcsd2.org/mnethercott (Use this!!!)
1)BE PREPARED FOR CLASSA)Pen/pencil B)Binder C)Text D)Restroom-drink, etc. E)Study notes,
prepare for quizzes, and have homework completed and READY to turn in.
2)NO FOOD, CANDY, POP ETC. IN CLASS. This is for your safety as well as for the clean
appearance of the class.
3)NOTES--Much of the information you receive for this class comes from notes I give you. You are required to
maintain a note binder for the class. The notebook will be handed in periodically and graded. Only three-ring
binders like those shown you in class will be accepted. Notes will be graded on six basic areas: binder, table of
contents, review sheet, notes, handouts, and organization. If I put it on the board it goes in your notes. If I
repeat something it had better be in your notes.
A)Write the notes in your own words, not the teacher’s. It makes the ideas more meaningful to you.
B)Don’t try to copy every word, but select only the important thought and ideas.
C)Use abbreviations and symbols for shortcuts.
D)Keep your notes neat and organized. Date them. Write the subject on top of your page. Put your test review at
the start of each new chapter in your notes.
E)Use your notes to make summaries, outlines, diagrams, and mental maps.
4)NO late assignments will be accepted except in the case of absences. If you are absent you have
one school day for every day you missed to turn in the late work. When you are absent, you are responsible to
check my webpage (blogs.lcsd2.org/mnethercott) to see what you missed while you were gone. Come in during
home room the day you return to school to pick up missed work. Also, if you are absent you may be able to get
missed lecture video and assignments on-line at the website listed above. Missed quizzes and tests will be
recorded as a zero and must be made up within one school day after you return to school.
If you miss a day of school it is your responsibility to be ready for class the next time we
meet. Don't count on any extra credit to raise your grade. If you sluff class you may not turn in the work you
missed. Please come in and talk to me if you have a problem making up work. I’ll work with you, but it is your
responsibility to talk to me.
5)YOU only get out of life what you put into it. You only get out of this class what you put into it. Expect at least
one hour of homework for every hour you are in class.
6)Tardy (late to class). Don’t be tardy! You will NOT be allowed to make up a missed
quiz/assignments due to being tardy.
