There will be no May meeting. Ken Brown will arrange for

Mission Ministry
Capital Campaign
A Capital Campaign Committee has been created by the Session. The Committee has been charged with
the stated purpose of raising funds to significantly reduce the mortgage debt. Reduced expenditure of
funds for the monthly mortgage payment will make funds available for other needs of the Church. If suffi-
cient funds are raised to payoff the mortgage debt, more than $42,000 would be made available every year
to address the infrastructure needs and mission objectives of this Church. In any event, such commitment
of funds will need to be over and above your annual pledge made to support the mission of Fountain Hills
Presbyterian Church.
The Capital Campaign Committee has met for several months in order to organize and plan the process.
The Committee acknowledges that many who have gone before during the last 40+ years have sacrificed
much to make available the facilities we so love and enjoy today.
The Capital Campaign Committee invited the Congregation to a special gathering on April 22 in order to
present the details of the Campaign and to begin the process of receiving pledges of support for the Cam-
paign. We hope everyone will be able to participate in this Campaign to eliminate the mortgage debt and
to establish financial stability so that care of the Church facilities and pursuit of the Church mission may
continue for many years to come.
The members of the Capital Campaign Committee are Maria Berry, Aleyne Larson-Craig, Fred Hansen,
Yvonne Ellingson, Bob Lull, Tim Halchuck, Carol Skewes, Dawn Lau and Art Spalding.

Swedish diplomat Dag Hammarskjold, the second secretary-general of the United Nations, was known for his
Christian faith and his efforts as a peacemaker. He received the Nobel Peace Prize posthumously after dying in a plane
crash in Africa en route negotiate a cease-fire.
In Markings, his published diary, Hammarskjold wrote not of his illustrious career but of his conversations with
God. He expressed concern about finding meaning in life and living a life filled with meaning. On Pentecost in 1961 (just
months before he died), Hammarskjold wrote: “But at some moment I did answer Yes to Someone—or Something—and
from that hour I was certain that existence is meaningful and that, therefore, my life, in self-surrender, had a goal.”

The Giver
It is beyond the realm of possibilities that one has the ability to out-give God. Even if I give the whole of my
worth to Him, He will find a way to give back to me much more than I give.

Thanks, Mom!
At his graduation, a young man tasked with giving a speech began reading from some notes. “I want to talk about
my mother and the wonderful influence she had on my life,” he said. “She’s a shining example of parenthood, and I
love her more than words can ever do justice..”
The graduate then paused, appeared to struggle a moment and looked up at the audience with a mischievous
smile. “It’s really hard to read my mom’s handwriting,” he said.
