Scene 1

Description of what is on the stage, where twelve is, etc.

Twelve:
Good evening and welcome to this short performance. Time moves pretty
slow in this office, but when drama stirs, you won’t want to blink!
What you are about to witness is the daily life in a typical office,
which can be really boring. My job as an elevator operator can be
bleak, but it’s days like these that make me question You’ll see why
in a few moments. So please, sit back, relax, and enjoy our original
production of Going, Going, Gone.

Enter Richard, speaking into his cell phone.

Richard:
You idiot! You imbecile, I told you to only print in black and white!
We don’t have money for color! Of course, you wouldn’t know this being
“Daddy’s little girl”, but you’re going to learn after I assign you to
coffee duty!

Richard exits stage left, Stacey enters stage right. Stacey ends the
call, faces the audience

Stacey:
I could use my time better than printing and coffee runs, I should’ve
been the manager, and I would’ve been 10 times better than he is! He
isn’t fair, isn’t productive, he doesn’t even treat me right

Stacey enters elevator.

Twelve:
Going up?

Attention turns to Diane, Jessica, and Danny, around Diane’s desk.

Danny:
(holding a piece of paper)
This is ridiculous!
Jessica:
I didn’t think he’d be serious...

Diane:
(plucks paper from Danny and reads)
You guys really got written up for one kiss? I know PDA is a thing,
but cutting your salary? That’s harsh. Especially when you guys have
been dating for only a month or two.

Jessica:
It was just a peck!! A harmless! Little! Peck!

Danny:
He’s never bothered us about being together before...why would he flip
over something minor? Did something change?

Jessica:
Maybe management cracked down on him, but even then, he would’ve told
us either way.

Diane:
I hear he’s on edge because he’s cheating on his wife...

Jessica & Danny:

With who?!

All three look at Cameron, who’s busy filing papers.

Elevator dings.

Gina walks out of elevator with lunch bag.

Gina:
Excuse me?

Cameron faces her.

Cameron:
Can I help you?

Gina:
Yes, I’d like to drop off my husbands lunch for today, he forgot it at
home. He’s so forgetful at times.
Cameron:
Of course! Who’s your husband?

Gina:
Richard!

Cameron:
(hesitantly)
Oh..of course. Follow me!

Cameron rolls her eyes as they walk of stage

Scene 2

Jessica, Danny, Stacey, and Diane are in the lunchroom taking their
required break when Cameron walks in.

Stacey:
I am sick and tired of being that guy’s chew toy! He should know I’m
better than a coffee runner. I actually have skills.

Jessica:
At least he’s not trying to dock your pay for something as mediocre as
PDA. I mean come on! He kisses his wife everytime she comes in the
office and I don’t see anyone else taking money out of his paycheck!

Danny:
Babe... calm down

Jessica:
Don’t you dare tell me to calm down! This isn’t right. You would
realize that if you paid more attention to reality and not those
stupid video games(fortnite).

Stacey:
Some days I just want him to be ran over by my Lambo and trampled over
by a stampede of elephants..and survive!

Jessica:
Yeah…

Stacey:
I want him to get scorched by a pot of coffee and live!
Jessica:
Yeah! I’ll be the one to put some staples in his head when he’s not
looking!

Danny:
(Patting Jessica’s hand)
I’ll reload the stapler so you can do it again hun

Cameron and Diane look around when Gina walks in. Everyone becomes
silent, there is extreme tension

Gina:
Hey guys! What’s goin on!

Stacey:
(to diane) Why is she even here?

Diane:
Shhhhh. I wanna hear this

Cameron:
(Back turned to Gina)
What’d you pack for lunch; a box of nails?

Gina:
Uh, no, actually, it was from his favorite sushi place. Why does it
matter?

Cameron:
(Faces Gina)
How long have you two been married?

Gina:
3 years? Again, why does it matter so much? Aren’t we all friends
here?

Cameron:
No. We never were.

Gina:
I’m confused, do you have a problem with me?
Cameron:
My problem is your husband.

Gina:
What do you mean?

Cameron:
Your husband loves me not you

Diane:
(from behind)
Your husband’s cheating on you!

Gina:
Ohhhh whatttt!!?? How could he? How could you?

Cameron:
How could he? He does nothing but talk about how boring you are! You
must have known, or were you too oblivious to see it?

Gina:
I could kill that man after what he’s done to me! And you! I might as
well just-

Cameron:
He said he’d raise my pay!! And I’ve got college debt! He treated me
right and told me he loved me!

Gina:
So you made my husband your sugar daddy? You’re disgusting!

Diane:
Ladies, please!!

Cameron:
Deep down I knew it was wrong! But I’m not your enemy, I’m just trying
to get by. If you’re going to hurt anyone, it should be him.

Gina:
I’ll deal with you later. As for now, you’re my accomplice. I don’t
care if you “love” him or if he gives you money. You’re helping me
kill him. I might as well just make you do all the dirty work.
Diane looks at Cameron and Gina in disbelief

Diane:
You are not killing anyone

Jessica:
Woah woah woah, if you’re stabbing him, I want a part in this too.

Danny:
No no no, we’re not killing anyone

Jessica:
You said you would reload the stapler, didn’t you?

Danny:
Yeah but I didn’t think you were serious...

Jessica:
I’d rather get written up for murder than PDA.

Danny:
You’re insane!

Diane:
I know Richard is a pain but I don’t think he deserves to die...
(She begins to leave the break room)
This is also the guy that gives us our paychecks. Have you got a plan
after he dies? Another job?

Everyone looks around, guilty

Diane:
That’s what I thou-

Stacey:
(interrupting Diane)
I’d take over. I know I can prove myself. I have tons of ideas in a
perfectly organized and color coded binder and it includes a higher
paycheck for everyone. Besides, we could always pass his death as a
freak accident.

Twelve comes into the breakroom

Danny:
Twelve? What are you doing here? Your break isn’t until another hour?
Twelve:
Elevator broke. Luckily when I went on a bathroom run, but the doors
stay open now. The elevator seems to be on the bottom floor.

Diane:
It won’t be repaired soon?

Twelve:
Not that I know of. Our usual company won’t pick up, and Richard hates
it when I try to get other companies. So I thought I’d just take the
stairs here.

Jessica:
Now we have to take the stairs? This day can’t get any worse!

Twelve:
What’s wrong? (jokingly)Did Richard get on your nerves?

Everyone but Twelve and Diane:

EXACTLY!!!

Diane:
They want to kill him.

Twelve begins to laugh, but upon seeing everyone’s expressions, she

realizes they’re serious

Twelve:
No way..that’s no- even you Gina?

Gina and Cameron:

He cheated.

Twelve:
(visibly surprised)
Danny and Jessica?

Danny and Jessica:

He cut our checks for PDA.

Diane:
(to Twelve)
I don’t suppose you have a reason to kill Richard?
Twelve:
Actually, he’s been stealing my lunch desserts lately. I even put my
name with a little note on it to not eat it, but he did! I had a
parfait that day. And parfaits are my favorite. I say off with his
head!!!

Diane:
You can’t be serious!

Gina:
Why don’t you have a reason Diane?

Diane:
Because I don’t get upset over petty things!

Twelve:
My parfait was $5! Don’t you dare tell me that’s petty!

Diane:
Well, I guess I can be mad at him for putting my desk right next to
the trash can. I asked him to move it somewhere with a better smell,
but he just ignored me.

Jessica:
Uhh ok. Anything else?

Diane:
Well, there was that time when I tripped in the office and I held my
hand out for help and he just stepped over me.

Cameron:
Yeah, we’re getting there…

Diane:
There was also that one time when he took my cute little post-it notes
and when he returned them, there was only one left and it was not even
sticky! That was the last straw! Ok I’m in!

Gina:
Finally
(to Cameron)
Took her long enough.

Diane:
Ok so, what’s the plan?

Danny:
To kill him. Duh.

Scene 3

They have formed a full proof plan and are about to execute it when
Richard walks down the hall

Richard:
Stacey! What have I told you about printing in color! This time you
even added pictures? How stupid could you possibly be?

Gina:
Hey! Don’t yell at her!

Everyone except Richard, Gina, and Stacy:

Yeah!

Diane:
Boss. Don’t you have a meeting on the 2nd floor right about now?

Twelve:
Hey boss. Let’s take a walk over to the elevator to get you to your
meeting on time.

Richard:
Ok. Boy am I glad to have such faithful and loyal employees as you!

Jessica and Danny:

Yeah…

Gina:
Here hun how ‘bout we walk you over to that elevator

Richard:
Wait..you guys never want to walk with me anywhere.

(As Richard turns around to say something else, everyone puts a hand
on his chest and Gina grabs a hold of his tie and they push him into
the empty elevator shaft. He falls into the dark and empty abyss.)

Twelve:
Going down?

(Everyone begins laughing and turns to get back to work and they live
happily ever after without getting found out by the police or the
government)
