Classroom Observation Feedback Report

The document provides feedback from a classroom observation of the teacher. It summarizes that the learning objective was clearly posted and understandable. It notes that students were working in groups while the teacher worked with small groups. Most students showed low engagement and attention during the lesson. Evidence of collaboration and critical thinking was seen through group activities. The observer was impressed with how students own their data but wondered about the discussion they walked in on. Additional comments praised the teacher for holding students accountable and having high expectations.

Walk-Through Feedback

Thank you for the opportunity to visit your classroom today. Below is what I saw while I was in
your room focusing on the areas previously discussed with staff. If you have any questions or
would like to discuss it further feel free to let me know.

You were observed by Candice Ball on 1/10/2018 10:13 during the Beginning of your class.

Learning Objective/Essential Question

While in your room I noticed that your learning objective/essential question was Posted,
Visible, Understandable, In student friendly language, Clearly defines what students are
expected to learn

What are the students doing?

The activities that you were doing: had your students Working in groups

Teacher Actions
You as the teacher were working with small groups

Levels of Student Engagement

As we have discussed, you may see various levels of student engagement during a class period.
The more engaged students are the less opportunity there is for issues with classroom
management. While in your room students were at the following levels of engagement: Ritual
Compliance– the student is not able to connect to the work , but there are extrinsic outcomes
of value that keep them engaged (Low Attention + Low Commitment)

Evidence of 4Cs
Through the activities that were taking place in your room evidence of the 4Cs was seen
through activities that included Collaboration- working together to reach a goal- putting talent,
expertise and smarts to work, Critical Thinking- looking at problems in a new way, linking
learning across subjects and disciplines

1 Wow and 1 Wonder

The one wow I walked out of your room with was I like how students own their data in your
classes and also wondered how did the conversation start that I walked in on?

Additional Comments
Here is some additional feedback on the lesson I saw: You continue to hold students
accountable and set high expectations.
