Energy Recovery Wheel

1. The document provides temperature, humidity, and flow rate data for outdoor, supply, return, and exhaust air for a heat recovery wheel system in summer, monsoon, and winter conditions. 2. It describes the specifications of the HRW-1400 heat recovery wheel, including its diameter, depth, drive motor power, and weight. 3. It calculates the sensible and latent heat recovery and savings provided by the wheel system for summer, monsoon, and winter compared to not having a heat recovery system.

SubstrateThe substrate or wheel matrix should be only of pure aluminum foil, and not from any material, which is combustible or supports combustion,so as to
allow:a)quick and efficient uptake of thermal energy, b)suffi. mass for optimum heat transfer and c)maximum sensible heat recovery at a relatively
low rotational speed of 20 to 25 rpm.
DesiccantThe desiccant should be of 'Ecosorb 300 [3A] type*' belonging to the molecular sieve family ,which should maximize moisture uptake and therefore
maximize latent [Link] desiccant, of sufficient mass, should be coated with non masking porous binder adhesive on the aluminum substrate
so as to allow quick and easy uptake and release of water vapor.
RotorThe rotor/wheel matrix shall have nearly equal sensible and latent recovery. The weight of desiccant coating and the mass of aluminum foil shall
be in a ratio so as to ensure nearly equal recovery of both sensible and latent heat over the operating range. The rotor shall be made of alternate
flat and corrugated aluminum foil of uniform [Link] rotor honeycomb matrix foil should be so wound and adhered as to make a structurally very
strong and rigid media, which shall not get cracked, deformed [Link] to change of temperature or humidity.
CassetteThe DRI cassettes have modern state of the art folded sheet metal cassettes for smaller sizes (up to 2400 mm dia wheel) and epoxy coated
tubular frame work for larger sizes.
