The Real Miracle Nutrient

By John Fawkes, CEO, ErosFactor

Diet books and food manufacturers are constantly touting the effectiveness of some new
“miracle nutrient” that, so it is claimed, will make you leaner, more alert, stronger, happier, etc.
If you're like most people, you are probably tired of hearing claims that a certain food will do
everything short of giving you superpowers.  But what if there was such a nutrient?  There is,
and it's not fiber, fish oil, protein, or indeed any other kind of food.  It's the one nutrient we all
consume every day, and we just don't consume enough of it: water.  This article will tell you how
to drastically improve your health by consuming the single most abundant nutrient (well, after
oxygen) in the world, and best of all, how to do so practically for free.

Water is so vital, we will die after 2-3 days without it.  Our bodies are composed of 50-65%
water.  All of our cells are infused with it.  Is it any surprise that we need a lot of it?
Dehydration symptoms show up when the body loses 1-2% of its water volume, and the
increasing consumption of caffeinated and sugared beverages in place of pure water has afflicted
as many as 75% of Americans with chronic dehydration.

Your body uses water for the following purposes:

 Water makes up roughly 90% of your blood volume, 85% of your brain volume, 75% of
your muscle volume, 71% of your skin volume, 30% of your bone volume and 15% of
your fat volume.
 Water is the main component of your interstitial fluid, which helps deliver nutrients to
your cells, remove waste, and cushion your body against impact.
 Water is used to regulate your temperature.
 Water is used to flush toxins out of your body via the kidneys.
 Water is vital to the digestive process.
 Water acts as a solvent for nutrients being delivered to your body.
 Water flushes residual flavors from the taste buds, preventing cravings.

More likely than not, you too are afflicted with chronic dehydration.  Part of the problem is that
the human thirst mechanism is notoriously unreliable.  People can be dehydrated without even
feeling thirsty; in fact many people have died of thirst in the desert with water left in their
canteens, because they were trying to ration it and didn't feel thirsty.  Thirst is also often
mistaken for hunger, leading people to overeat, further compounding the problem as more water
is used digesting and metabolizing the food.  If you are over 50, it's a near certainty that you have
this problem.

Your kidneys need water to filter toxins from your body.  When they don't get enough water,
much of this work gets shifted to your liver, which doesn't need as much water.  Doing so,
however, prevents the liver from performing its other function of metabolizing energy, and in
particular breaking down fat for energy.  Dehydration tends to affect the most watery parts of the
body first (i.e. The blood, then the brain, then the muscles, etc.).  The following are symptoms of
dehydration:

 Lower blood pressure and rapid heart rate (tachycardia) due to loss of blood volume
 Lack of energy
 Rapid breathing
 Abnormally dark urine
 A headache, feeling similar to a hangover
 Dizziness & mental fatigue
 Muscular soreness and fatigue
 Nausea
 Elevated body temperature
 In early stages, often feelings of hunger.  In later stages, a lack of appetite
 Splotchy or acne-ridden skin

Of these symptoms, dark urine is the most reliable indicator of dehydration, as it is rarely caused
by anything else.  The way to prevent dehydration is to drink more water than you feel like you
need.  Superhydration will increase your energy levels and alertness.  It will cleanse toxins from
both your insides and your skin.  It will fill you with strength and a feeling of well-being.  It will
allow your kidneys to do their job of flushing toxins from your body, leaving your liver free to
metabolize energy.  It will help your body metabolize fat by flushing ketone bodies (the
byproduct of fat breakdown) from your body.  With proper timing, it can even lead you to eat
less.  Follow these simple guidelines for superhydration:

1. Purchase a thermos.  It should be 20-32 ounces, and should have a straw, as this makes it
easier to sip water slowly.  Sip your water gradually throughout the day; do not chug it.
2. Start out by drinking 64 ounces of water per day, and gradually increase that to 128
ounces (1 gallon) over the course of a week. Very large men might need as much as 192
ounces (1.5 gallons) if they are trying to put on muscle, but this should be gradually
worked up to over several weeks.
3. If you are focused on burning fat, drink a large glass of water about 20 minutes before
each meal to decrease your appetite.
4. Ice cold water is preferable, but not required.
5. Drink most of your day's allotment of water before 5 P.M., tapering it off in the evening
to prevent bathroom breaks from interrupting your sleep.  If you find you are behind
schedule after dinner, don't try to make up for it by drinking a ton of water before bed.
6. Fill these requirements by drinking non-caloric, non-caffeinated water.  Flavoring it with
a bit of lemon or cucumber is fine, as is Nutrasweet, but avoid adding calories or
caffeine.
7. Drink an extra cup of water for every caffeinated or alcoholic beverage consumed.
Consume caffeine and alcohol only in moderation, as they dehydrate the body.
8. Follow these recommendations for at least 2 weeks.  That will be long enough to see
definite results, and you will probably see results even sooner.

As for what kind of water you should drink, if you are living in a developed country like the
United States, tap water is just fine.  If your tap water is fluoridated, it's probably even better
than bottled water.  And by all means, don't buy one of those ridiculous water ionizers that are
claimed to turn your tap water into some kind of miracle fluid; these are scams.  If you live in an
area with low-quality tap water, invest in a water filter or UV sterilizing system.  There is no
reason hyperhydration should cost very much.

Within 2 weeks at the most you should notice a marked increase in energy levels, clearer skin (if
it's not clear already), more alertness, and if you are overweight, some level of fat loss.  Let's
drink to good health.
