What is solar energy??

• Solar energy is defined as the energy that is collected


from the sun. It also refers to the use of energy of sun for
practical ends.

• Solar energy is one of the renewable forms of energy.

• As the law of conservation of energy states, “Energy can


neither be created nor be destroyed but can be converted
to another form”.

• Similarly solar energy can also be converted to other forms


of energy.

Solar energy is based on the following


two major principles namely

• Photovoltaics
• Black body radiation

• Solar roadways is a tactical


approach to solve energy crisis.

• Solar roadways are roads that


consist of solar panels under them.

• This approach is to bring solution to


overgrowing price of asphalt and to
put an end to power shortage.

HOW CAN ONE DRIVE ON GLASS….????

• Basically this question arises .

• Now let me get one thing clear ,we are


not going to use glasses that are used
in our windows.

• Glass has comparatively high strength.


It’s strength can be increased by
compressing and heating or by
swapping ions.

• We can provide traction by placing


macro patterns on the glass, it can be
placed in such a way that it provides
traction.
SOLAR PANELS
• This is the second and
most important layer of
solar roadways.

• Solar panels as we know


consists of PN junction
diodes.

• The solar panels are


attached with LED’S
which facilitates better
driving.

• Solar panels are the parts


that convert solar energy
to electrical energy.
WORKING OF SOLAR PANELS

Solar panels work on the principle of photovoltaic systems(PV).

Here two PN junction diodes are kept one over another. Now this
diode is irradiated by sunlight and all electron and hole deficiencies
are compensated. Now this results in the formation of an electric
field.
How does solar roadways work………?????

• Sunlight penetrates through the


glass and falls on the solar panel.

• The solar roadways on the basis of


photovoltaic absorbs sunlight and
converts it into electrical energy.

• This electrical energy can be sent


to a transformer for stepping up as
required.

• Thus this is the working of solar


roadways.

ADVANTAGES
• Prevents water stagnating in roads and sidewalks. They can be evaporated.

• Reduction in the usage of water heaters ,by supplying heated water. This is
possible only if graphene pipes are used.

• Twice the power generation by using solar panels of 15% efficiency.

• Reduction in the cost of laying roads.

• Power shortage is increasing
day by day.
• I suggest this method
because it helps us to reduce
usage of petrol.
• Addition to that it also helps
us to generate electricity.
• By this the nation can
benefit really
• We thrive on what our
ancestors left us.
• We need move on, so that
the future generation have a
better life in their time.
