Course Schedule - 2017 Classes Only $50

Basic Rider Course - Web Enhanced


Requirements: must have a valid email address on file with the College. Must complete the online eCourse prior to your class start date and bring the
completion certificate to the first class session. Link to the eCourse will be distributed by the College via email at least 1 week prior to the start date of
your class. If you have not received an email by this time, you must contact the CEPD office at (734) 462-4448.

This class consists of approximately 18 hours of instruction – 3 hours of online preparation to be completed prior to your class start date, 5 hours of
classroom instruction, and 10 hours of hands-on training. Designed for someone who has minimal experience operating a motorcycle, this course
focuses on the development of basic riding skills: clutch and throttle coordination, straight-line riding, braking, turning, and shifting. Successful
completion of this course and its knowledge and skills tests will result in a written and riding test waiver by the Secretary of State. This course is offered
in different formats: one (1) weekend, weekday, and weeknight.
Prerequisite: ability to ride a bicycle.

Basic Rider Course - Web Enhanced -- One Weekend Class


The most physically demanding of all BRC options! Friday 6-10PM, Saturday and Sunday 8AM-8PM. Students need to be available during the 12 hour
period on Saturday and Sunday, but are not expected to be on site the entire time. Specific schedules will be assigned the first night of class.
Online eCourse is required to be completed prior to your first class session. See BRC eCourse information below.

Basic Rider Course - Web Enhanced -- Weekday / Weeknight Courses
This course meets Monday through Friday for one week. (AM) denotes 8AM-1PM sessions and (PM) denotes 5-10PM sessions. Specific schedules will
be assigned the first meeting. The actual class time is equivalent to the one weekend class. The pace is more relaxed with riding time spread out over
five days. Online eCourse is required to be completed prior to your first class session. See BRC eCourse information below.

BRC eCOURSE INFORMATION:


An online eCourse pre-course assignment is required for ALL Basic Rider Course classes. Information pertaining to the online eCourse will be
emailed to all students approximately 1-2 weeks prior to the class start date. This email will include:

• The link to the online eCourse


• A coupon code to waive the MSF eCourse fee of $19.95 (failure to use the provided coupon code will result in a non-refundable charge of $19.95)
• Instructions on how to complete the online eCourse

To ensure you receive the eCourse information, please make certain you have a current email address on file with the College. If you do not receive the
email with the eCourse instructions at least one week before your class begins, you must contact the CEPD office at (734) 462-4448.

The eCourse MUST be completed prior to the start of your class and the completion certificate must be shown to your RiderCoach when arriving to
class. FAILURE TO PROVIDE YOUR MSF ECOURSE COMPLETION CERTIFICATE WILL RESULT IN DISMISSAL FROM THE
COURSE AND THE LOSS OF YOUR $50.00 REGISTRATION FEE.

Returning Rider Course -- One Day


Course meets from 8 am to 6 pm with a break for lunch. A one day course designed for the experienced but unlicensed rider to become licensed and
legal. Many experienced, licensed riders use this course as a refresher and skills tune up. Topics include: braking, counter steering, turning, speed
judgment, and other techniques necessary for the experienced rider to operate a motorcycle skillfully and safely. Each student must provide their own
motorcycle. Scooters will be allowed in this class. Sharing is not allowed. The cycle must be titled, properly registered, and display a valid license plate.
Each student must provide proof of insurance and the bike must pass a safety inspection. Successful completion allows a student to waive the Secretary
of State written and riding skills tests.

Advanced Rider Course -- One Day


Course meets from 9 am to 6 pm with a break for lunch. This one day course is designed for licensed, experienced riders who have a cycle endorsement
to enhance their basic skills and help with personal risk assessment. Interactive classroom activities to improve perception and hazard awareness are
combined with range exercises which enhance both basic skills and crash avoidance skills. You will learn to improve braking and corner finesse. It is
the public version of the Military Sport Bike Rider Course. Each student must provide their own motorcycle. Sharing is not allowed. The cycle must be
titled, properly registered, and display a valid license plate. Each student must provide proof of insurance and the bike must pass a safety inspection.

Interested in becoming a Motorcycle Safety instructor?
We will be offering two training opportunities for licensed and experienced motorcyclists to become certified RiderCoaches through the

AGE REQUIREMENTS: Students under the age of 18 are allowed to take the Basic Rider, 3-Wheel Basic Rider, or Returning Rider Courses starting
at age 15 if they have a valid driver's license (Level 1 or higher). A parent or guardian must accompany the student to the first class meeting; parent
signatures are required on some documents.

ALL MOTORCYCLE COURSES REQUIRE YOU TO HAVE THE FOLLOWING:


l DOT-approved helmet
l Long sleeve jacket or heavy shirt
l Heavy duty long pants
l Eye protection – goggles or glasses (required even with a face shield helmet)
l Full fingered gloves
l Boots: Your ankles must be covered and the boot must have a hard sole. High heels or high-top tennis shoes are not permitted.
l Rain and cold weather gear, as needed
l Pencil or pen
