1. a) What are the applications of the modern electronics? Describe in 8
the brief.
b) Draw the complete characteristic curve of the junction diode and 7
explain it in forward and reverse condition.
2. a) Define semiconductor with the help of energy band diagram. Classify 5
semiconductors and explain P type and N type semiconductors with
the help of atomic bonding.
b) What do you mean by p-n junction? Describe the philosophy of p-n 5
junction in forward bias condition. Explain general V-I characteristics
of p-n junction with sketch in brief.
c) Distinguish between n-p-n and p-n-p transistor and describe the 5
operation of n-p-n transistor in detail.
3. a) List different biasing schemes in transistor. Explain fixed biasing with 8
necessary derivation.
b) Draw and explain input characteristics of CE and CB amplifier. Find 7
the equation of current gain for CE and CB amplifier.
4. a) The rectification efficiency of full wave rectifier is twice to that of 8
half wave rectifier. Prove it mathematically.
b) An amplifier with gain A 80 dB is connected to a negative feedback 7
network. The feedback factor is 0.02 If now due to replacement of the
active device the internal gain of the amplifier (A) is changed by 50%.
What would be the % change in the gain of feedback amplifier?

and deduce the expression for output voltage for non-inverting op-
amp.
