MLC9000 Firmware Programming
PC Connection to RS232 Port
Firmware reprogramming is achieved via the RS232 Configurator port on the MLC 9000 BCM. The following
connection details are provided to enable user to make their own leads.
To perform the firmware change, you can modify an existing MLC9000 Configurator lead, The unconnected wire
(from pin 3 of the RJ plug) should be connected to pin 5 of the 9-way connector. This is signal ground, and already
has the wire from pin 4 of the RJ plug connected to it.
Cable details:
PC Serial Port BCM
Function (at PC) 9way D type RJ11 Connector (Pin View)
Transmit Data Pin 3 Pin 1
Receive Data Pin 2 Pin 2
Signal Ground Pin 5 Pin 3
Signal Ground Pin 5 Pin 4
Please note that a cable which has been modify can only be use for firmware update. For configuration,
PIN 3 from RJ11 must be disconnected.

Procedure for Changing between Firmware types
The software Flash Development Toolkit can be download at the below link. This software is used to
change firmware type (for MLC900 in this case)

Power down the Bus Module
Connect the firmware upgrade cable
Power up the Bus Module
Open the Flash Development tools
-Create a new project. And name it
Choose device window will be then open.

-Select Processor H8S/2626F from the drop down list.
-Select Port Com (Make sure that this is the communication port used by your computer.

-Crystal Frequency must be 18.000 (enter it as 18)
-Select connexion is set as Boot Mode
-Speed must be set as 57600

Click Finish
On the main window, click on icon “Configure Flash project” (red circle)
Click File → open data file and choose the firmware.

Click on Icon “FDT connect” (red cicle)
If connection successful, download the new firmware to the device
Wait a few minutes for the data base for the new firmware type to be loaded.
The Bus module is now changed to the new firmware.
