QURAN COMPETITION
Dear Parents/Guardian(s), Assalam Alaikum Warahmatullah!

Quran is the word of Allah (kalamu Allah) as revealed to his prophet Mohammad (PBUH),
transferred to us through narration chains known as Tawator on seven ahruf, written between the
covers of Holy Book, protected by Allah between the lines, recited as a form of worship, miraculous
in its words and meanings, and challenging with its shortest Surah.

The Sahabas (may Allah's blessings be upon them all) gave special care to the Holy Quran as they
are the first generation and the pioneers in transferring to us the great Book of Allah the Almighty.
They realized the grace of the Book, hence they loved it with whole-heartedness, and their feelings
were overwhelmed by the affection of the Quran. Ibn Masud (may Allah's blessings be upon him)
said: We used to repeat only 10 verses till we know their exact meanings and apply them.

Therefore, in the footsteps of these legends, we strive towards the preservation and promotion of the
Quran and will be conducting our Annual Quran Memorization Competition between November
28th, 2017 and December 4th, 2017. This handbook has been prepared to guide you through the
process of the contest with detailed guidelines, preparation tips, contest levels, grading system, and

You must memorize the Surah assigned for their grade level with proper recitation and Tajweed.
The more frequently you memorize, the easier it becomes. Do not skip even a day of reviewing
and memorizing.
Set a time for yourself to memorize the Quran daily. The best time to memorize is right after
Salatul Fajr. Indeed, the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed. [Al Isra: 78]
Listening to reciters and trying to imitate them will assist in beautifying the sound, opening and
closing of verses, Waqf (stop) and Ibtida (start), control of breath and Tajweed.
