Excel Lesson 2

Section A. Define the following vocabulary (8 pts):

The Cell; Each rectangle in a worksheet

Cell address; The name of a cell based on the column or row

Cell range; A group of cells

Cell content; The formula inside of a cell

Section B. Explain how to do the following in complete sentences(9 pts):

1. Delete content in a cell: To delete content inside of a cell, you first select that cell and click
the clear command, in the ribbon, then press clear contents

2. To copy/cut and paste cell content: To copy, cut and paste cell content you must first select the
cells you want to copy or cut then clicks the copy or cut command. Select the cell or cells you
want to paste the content, then click the paste command.

3. Use fill handles to fill cells: To use the fill handles to fill cells you must first select the cell or
cells containing the content you want to use. Position your mouse over the fill handles and your
white cross will turn into a black cross with arrows. Click and drag the fill handle until all the
cells you want are highlighted then let go of the mouse.

Section C. Critical Thinking: Answer the following questions in paragraph form(6 pts):

1. What is the difference between deleting a cell and deleting cell content?
Deleting a cell content will only delete the formula inside a cell, deleting a whole cell will delete
the whole rectangle.
2. When would it be a good time to use the fill handle? What are the benefits of using it?
It will be a good time to use the fill handle when you have to type the same info in a range of
cells. The benefits include not getting bored or sore by typing.
