By completing this professional development I am now able to see the importance of talking
about texts with students. It is vital to break down and analyse text types with students in order
for them to be able to write their own and analyse various text types. It is vital to leave students
with multiple entry points when comprehending texts, this may mean various tiers of
differentiation. It is vital to scaffold tasks in order for students with diverse learning needs to
access tasks we are expecting them to complete.

The Keeping Them Safe: Child Protection Curriculum connects to all aspects of the standards. It
is vital the Child Protection Curriculum is integrated into all subject areas. The curriculum needs
to be a high priority focus across all aspects of my teaching.

This professional development required the staff to engage professional with each other in order
to create change at our site. We learnt that we need to have a whole school approach to creating
meaningful change. This also means actively involving parents/carers and members of the
broader community.

It is important to know your students and how they learn in order to create achievable goals for
them. By the end of this training I was able to write SMARTAR goals using the provided
template. By using SMARTAR goals I am able to effectively assess and and report on student
learning.

This professional development was particularly interesting with a number of workshops held
throughout the day. By the end of the day I had gained knowledge and resources around
effectively teaching English. I was introduced to a wide range of innovative assessments and
teaching practices.

This professional developed was based around school culture. We were required to work closely
with each other and discuss a new school vision. We had to share and reflect on our own
personal beliefs about teaching.

This reading was an introduction reading on a session on challenging behaviour. This reading
really opened my eyes to the reasons why students misbehave. It is vital to develop relationships
with students in order to understand the best way to teach them. It is vital to work with students to
try and change negative patterns of behaviour. This reading made me aware of the vast amount
of things that i can control in the classroom to support students with challenging behaviour.

This session gave me insight into the importance of improving relationships in the classroom in
order to reduce incidents of inappropriate behaviours. This session help me understand,
- the importance of setting up my class culture for success and engagement
- help me understand some of the reasons my students misbehave
- gave me ideas on the best way to respond to challenging behaviour
