Find the attached paper entitled Requirements, Bottlenecks and Good Fortune: Agents for
Microprocessor Evolution.
1. Summarize the paper from a users perspective.
2. Summarize the paper from a programmers perspective
3. Summarize the paper from a hardware engineers perspective.
4. The author defines three agents for evolution in processor systems: (a) New
requirements, (b) Bottlenecks and (c) Good fortune. Briefly discuss the importance of
each.
5. Do you agree with the authors notion of citing Good fortune as one of the agents for
evolution in processors? Support your response with critical arguments.
6. The author had predicted The one billion transistor chip future, enabling processors
to be clocked at 6 to 10 GHz. Are the current market trends in sync with the authors
prediction? Carry out a thorough survey of your own and support your response with
some valid state-of-art references.
Note: Students are directed to prepare their own responses. Similar or copied responses will
render the submission cancelled and no marks will be awarded.
