Acquittal in Tengson Burial Rites Case

The defendant was convicted by a lower court for performing burial rites inside a Roman Catholic cemetery according to the practices of his sect, "Christ is the Answer." However, the appellate court acquitted the defendant, finding that for an act to be offensive to religious feelings, it must ridicule or target a religious practice, dogma, or ritual. Since the defendant's burial rites followed the rules of his own sect and there was a permit for the burial, his actions were not directed against Roman Catholicism.
