The possible creation of a society or not-for-

profit dedicated to an attainable housing ini-
tiative was debated during Wheatland County
Terrific triathlon councils Aug. 15 regular meeting.
Some groundwork has been done for the
possible project including speaking with a de-
veloper who would like to work with the eco-
Page 8 nomic development board to bring in afforda-
ble and attainable housing to communities in
Wheatland County, such as Gleichen.
As part of the economic development
board (in Wheatland County), what they are
working on is attainable housing, explained
Councillor Alice Booth. We have to have an
association formed to work under attainable
housing in Alberta for the government part
of it.
Booth noted that over 200 proposed houses

governments standard for attainable houses.
Affordable housing is housing under the
governments mandate starting at around the
$100,000 to $150,000 mark and can go up
from there, said Booth. She added that the
economic development committee is interest-

including the price of the lot and the house,
which still falls under the category of attaina-

Aquatic Centre - The Aquatic Centre will see some upgrades as part of the
Canada 150 Projects. Enhancements include enclosing the waterslide, addition
of a steam room, and general maintenance upgrades to the heating, ventilation,
and air conditioning (HVAC) system. The Aquatic Centre will close for the
enhancements from August 25th to late October.

Hillview - As part of the Canada 150 Projects, the large open green space
located off Hillview Drive will be transformed into a recreational area that can
be enjoyed by all residents of Strathmore. Watch for more information on the

older brothers jam sessions, Daniel
Wiewel wanted nothing more than a
guitar.
Yet when his parents finally made his

gave it another try.
Since then, the now 30-year-old has
