Carbon Dioxide Fire Extinguishing Guidelines

The document outlines rules for installing carbon dioxide fire extinguishing systems on ships that came into force in 1976. It specifies requirements for storage of CO2 cylinders such as ventilation, temperature control, and securing of cylinders. The cylinders must meet standards for material, stamping, filling ratio, safety discs, valves. Piping must be designed to properly distribute CO2 and not pass through tanks. Stopcocks are required in certain locations.
