What are program notes?
A good set of program notes will do three essential things:
1) Give the audience a sense of the work's history.
Traditionally, notes include the facts of a work's creation: the
dates of composition and first performance, and where and by
whom it was first performed. Some details of composer biography
are usually appropriate.
2) Give the audience a sense of what to expect while hearing
the piece.
3) Your impression of the piece.
You need to have 2 sets of program notes, one for Highland pipes
and one for Pulsation. This assignment must be multiple
paragraphs for each piece. Please remember to review and edit
your work. You may have to write it over if it does not make
sense. Do not just write something down on paper and turn it
in that will not be acceptable!
