Lesson Aims: by the end of the lesson the students will be able to:
- improve recognition of the different types of conditional statements;
- use the right tense according to the type of conditional;
- improve their ability to speak in English;
Aids: blackboard, handouts, notebooks, celebrity cards, toilet paper;
Skills: Writing/ Reading / Speaking.
Organization: individual work/ group work
Methods: conversation, observation, exercise.
ACTIVITY 1: WARM-UP
Aim: - : to increase the SS interest in the use of Conditionals;
PROCEDURE INTERACTION TIMING
Warming up & checking homework T-S, S-T
The T greets the Ss and checks the homework. After doing that, the Frontal
T takes out a roll of toilet paper and presents it to the Ss. She asks Speaking 5 min
the Ss to pass it around the classroom so that each student gets 2 Individual
squares of it.
ACTIVITY 2: PRACTICE
Aim: - to revise the Conditional sentences;

While the Ss are taking the squares from the roll of toilet paper, the T-S, S-T 10 min
teacher starts telling a series of jokes, pointing out the conditional Writing
aspect in them. The Ss, deduce that they will be revising the Individual
CONDITIONALS in English. Frontal
The T writes the title on the blackboard and elicits examples for
each type of conditional sentence.
ACTIVITY 3: FEED-BACK
Aim: to practise the use of Conditionals
PROCEDURE INTERACTION TIMING
Focusing on the type 2 conditional, the T divides the class T-S, S-S, S-T
into to two numbers. After doing this, the T tells the Ss that Frontal 10 min
no. 1 should write an IF clause, and no.2 the result. The Speaking
teacher randomly asks Ss from both groups to complete each Writing
others sentences.
ACTIVITY 4: FURTHER PRACTICE
Aim: to further practice the Conditionals (type 0 and 1).
PROCEDURE INTERACTION TIMING
T spreads the worksheet and further discusses it with the Ss.
The Ss have to carefully read the text and fill the gaps with T-S, S-S, S-T
the most appropriate type of conditional i.e. type 0 or 1. By Frontal 20 min
pretending that they are actual reporters, they check their Reading
answers and discuss them with the teacher. Writing
FUN TIME WITH CONDITIONALS - Working on
worksheet no.2, the teacher asks the Ss to write down the
following.
(1): An action in a daily routine.
(2), (5), (8), (11) and (14): Five sensations/emotions.
(3), (4), (6), (7), (9), (10) and (12): Seven body parts.
(13): A gerund (-ing) action verb.
(15): A person.
