_ background information
Background investigation
In 2002 we read some articles in technical
magazines regarding concrete towers for wind
turbines
Started to investigate the market and obtain a
future buyer for the pre cast concrete tower.
Preliminary study and market research carried out on the
mixed tower design by a renowned engineering
company & other emerging designs on the market.
In the first semester of 2005 we started designing our own
pre-cast concrete tower in collaboration with the University
Polytechnic of Catalonia , Spain and an engineering
company specialized in pre cast concrete structures .
Since September 2006 we have been developing
different designs for various turbine manufacturers.
_ techncial summary
Modular prefabricated truncated cone shaped tower
from 60 to 100 meters high with concrete elements of
reduced thickness,.
The tower is divided up into different sections and each
section is divided into segments.
In order to reduce the size of the sections for transport
purposes they are divided into various segments.
Because of the truncated cone shape means that each
section has distinct dimensions, so the same amount of
moulds must be used as sections which leads to complexity
in the manufacturing of the segments.
External wall is smooth but the internal wall is covered in
a maize of horizontal and vertical reinforcement ribs
obtaining a reduction in the thickness of the modular
sections and maintaining the high rigidity and resistance
and considerable reducing the weight of the segment.
Rebar reinforcement along with vertical and horizontal
pre-stressing cables.

Fast construction of the very high towers using
the minimal number of elements.
Prefabricated elements have strengthening ribs
(nerves) reducing the weight significantly
permitting easy transport , cost saving in
manufacturing, transport and erection.
Dynamic behaviour is substantially better than
that of the metallic tower structure.
Reduction in maintenance costs
Permits installation of larger wind turbines of
higher power potential due to the increase of
height of the concrete tower in comparison to
that of the metal tower structure.

Dimensions calculated to allow
easy transport by road length
between 20 to 30 meters and
maximum width 4.5 meters.
