1. Authentic Blue
2. Organized Gold
3. Inquiring Green
4. Resourceful Orange
Consider the strengths of each colour (whether it is strong in you or not).
1. In a brief paragraph for each colour, describe the typical times (roles) in your
life you use each colour. In what circumstances would you draw on the skills,
talents, traits and/or qualities from Blue, Gold, Green and Orange.
Authentic Blue I apply to all my relationships, whether it be with my boyfriend,
friends or co-workers. Organized Gold I applied it to my work life and now as a
student. Inquiring Green was applied in my work life and now as a student as
well. Resourceful Orange in my personal and social life.
2. What strengths or skills of that colour are you calling on in that role or
situation?
3. Explain what traits in your strongest colour energizes you (have the strongest
connection to) and what traits in your weakest colour exhausts or frustrates you
(traits that are least like you)? [4 paragraphs: 8 marks]
I am a people person, and I love socializing and helping others. I am
dedicated to helping others resolve their issues, challenges or obstacles they are
faced with. Supporting someone, motivates me and energizes me to want to do
more for others, and gives me my own personal validation that Ive done
something positive and that Ive achieved my own personal goal.
This on the other hand, can be exhausting and frustrating because, I can
feel used and unappreciated (by some) for going the extra mile. Not only do I
love praising others and being supportive and sensitive to their needs, but I have
2
my own personal needs of be praised as well for my support that I provided in
their time of need.
Resourceful Orange is one of my weakest colors in the personality
dimensions for the simple fact that Im defiantly not the Jack-of-all-trades. I hate
trying new things and taking risks. I love my routine and planning in advance,
unexpected events stress me and give me anxieties.
I need to analyze and think through decisions because I can be indecisive
and Im defiantly not one to act quick because I feel that a decision that isnt
thought through can be unrealistic.
That Really Pushes My Buttons!
4a) Briefly describe the area of your work (present or past) that you enjoy the
most. If youve never had a part-time job, what subjects at school did you most
enjoy? Why? [2 marks]
The areas I loved most about my previous job was the interaction with my clients
and their children. I loved that I was able to build long lasting friendships outside
of work. I loved that my customers trusted me and felt comfortable with me.
b) Briefly identify any connections you see between this area of work and the
strengths and preferences of your primary (strongest) colour. Now that you are
preparing for a career as an Office Administrator, what traits or characteristics, of
your primary colour, do you think will help you in this career? [4 marks]
I am a very organized person and like to have everything in an orderly manner, I
think that would be a great asset to being an Office Administrator.
5a) Briefly describe any professional responsibility or situation you dont like.
Why? [2 marks]
A professional responsibility that I may dislike at first and would need to warm up
on would have to be is public speaking. I get nervous and have severe anxiety
when I am asking to speaking in large groups.
b) Briefly identify any connections you see between this situation/responsibility
and your Personality Dimension plaid. (Hint: You might want to consider your
lowest colour.) As well, consider your new career as an Office Administrator, in an
interview when an employer asks you to share your strengths or asks you tell
them about you, now that you have completed Personality Dimensions, what
strengths, qualities or characteristics would you share with them? [4 marks]
In an interview for an Office Administrator position I would share my strengths,
qualities and characteristics which would be;
That I am an organized person that has an eye for detail. I have excellent
communication skills and I can speak three languages. I have (will have)
3
computer knowledge. Great time management, customer-oriented, punctual and
reliable.
6a) Briefly describe a situation in which you have experienced conflict with
someone, or experienced difficulty understanding/communicating/relating with
someone. [2 marks]
When I worked in retail many years back, I had a customer that was angry that
an item scanned in at the wrong price. The label/sign had the previous weeks
sale price. The part time sales associate didnt complete her task for the day
which resulted to an angry customer. After the customer was cashed through and
had paid she realized after looking over her receipt that she was over charged for
an item (shirt). She came back fuming, she over reacted and didnt give me the
opportunity to speak. I stayed calm in that situation after she finished expressing
herself, I apologized and price changed the item to what the label said and
applied 10 percent to her transaction.
b) What do you think the primary colour of the person was? [2 marks]
The primary colour of this customer was resourceful orange. She was pushy,
impulsive and confrontational. She acted quickly without looking at the bigger
picture that there was opportunity to resolve the issue without exploding.
c) Consider your response to 6b) and your own Personality Dimensions primary
colour. Using what you have learned so far about distinct personality and their
needs and values (you may want to refer to the booklet in your package), identify
two or three steps you could take which will help to minimize the conflict between
you and that other person. Include an explanation of why, or how, these steps
will be helpful. If you wish, you may ask for ideas or advice from a peer or
classmate who has identified as the same primary colour as the person you
indicated in 6b. [4 marks]
I minimized the conflict with that customer because I can relate to others. I was
able to put myself in her shoes and acted upon how I would feel as customer
being over charger for an item. Although I would have handle that situation
completely different than she had, but we are all different in our ways. I have the
ability to be supportive and understanding which helped resolve the issue,
because I am dedicated to peoples issues and avoiding conflict.
