Description of how to implement in the class: This will be an activity
students will do after learning about the classifications of animals.
Classifying animals can be challenging for students, so being able to do
different activities with classifying is beneficial. I would first do an overview
with the students on characteristics animals have within each group. We
would cover insects, birds, mammals, and insects so that they have that
background knowledge prior to the activity.
The activity would be an effective way to differentiate for learners who may
have challenges with spelling, or even just for learners who need visuals.
The activity would also serve as a formative assessment to see who is
understanding the material, and who may need more assistance. Students
will be asked to classify with little help from the teacher.
Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): For this learning experience, a
level 3 best describes the lesson. The learning experience requires students
to apply their knowledge. The teacher is a facilitator in the experience.
Description of the sample BBPT file provided *: Students will see four
sections labeled insect, bird, mammal, and reptile. To the side they will see
pictures of different animals, and they will be asked to drop the animal into
the correct section. After all pictures have been placed correctly, they will
have have to go to Writing View to explain why they placed the animal in
that category. Students will have to provide specific evidence.
