ABSTRACT
The radial engine is an internal combustion engine configuration in which the
cylinders point outward from a central crankshaft like the spokes on a wheel. This
configuration was very commonly used in aircraft engines before being superseded
by turbo shaft and turbojet engines. It is a reciprocating engine.
C. M. Manly constructed a water-cooled five-cylinder radial engine in 1901. For
Aerodrome aircraft. Engine produced 52 hp (39 kW) at 950 rpm. 19031904
JacobEllehammer build the world's first air-cooled radial engine. Thus many
scientists made changes in structure of radial engine.
In World War I, many French and other Allied aircraft flew with Gnome, LeRhne,
Clerget and Bentley rotary engines, the ultimate examples of which reached 240 hp
(180 kW).
The radial engines are used in aircraft engines and sports car engine, tanks .it is
mostly used for getting continuous power supply from engine. Most radial engines
use overhead poppet valves driven by pushrods and lifters on a cam plate which is
concentric with the crankshaft, with a few smaller radials. A few engines utilize
sleeve valves instead.
Thus, we make this report using our knowledge of earlier semester. And also make
______________ in 6th semester by using above details.
