Overview of Vertebrates and Invertebrates

Vertebrates are animals that have an internal skeleton and backbone. Their bodies usually consist of a head, trunk, and four limbs. There are five main groups of vertebrates: fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. Invertebrates do not have a backbone or internal skeleton and lay eggs. Many invertebrates have shells or armor to protect their bodies, and include groups such as jellyfish, worms, echinoderms, molluscs, and arthropods.

  • Vertebrates: Explains the characteristics of vertebrates, describing internal skeletons and categorizing them into different groups like fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals.
  • Invertebrates: Clarifies the distinct features of invertebrates, such as lacking a backbone, and explains various types including cnidaria, worms, echinoderms, molluscs, and arthropods.

VERTEBRATES

Vertebrates are animals that have got an internal skeleton

(esqueleto interno) and a backbone (columna vertebral).

A vertebrate's body usually consists of a head with a skull (crneo),

a trunk (tronco) with or without a tail (cola), and usually four limbs
(piernas).

There are five groups of vertebrates
