January 29th, 1919: The Eighteenth Amendment was ratified,
prohibiting the sale of alcohol nationwide.
1920: The United States Census reports that more people live in urban
areas than rural areas.
January 8th, 1920: The Great Steel Strike of 1919 ends with capitulation
by the steelworkers.
April 1920: Overproduction in cotton causes a collapse in cotton prices,
leading to many cotton farmers living in near depression conditions
until the late 1930s.
August 18th ,1920: The Nineteenth Amendment is ratified, granting
women the right to vote.
November 2nd, 1920: Socialist Eugene Debs runs for presidency, from
prison, and gains over 900,000 votes.
October 1921: The first ever broadcasted World Series is broadcasted on
radio, Yankees vs. New York Giants.
1923: The Yankee stadium is built, named The House that Ruth Built.
January 9th, 1924: The market capitalization of Ford Motor Company
surpasses $1 billion.
April 1925: Fitzgerald Gatsby publishes The Great Gastby.
May 21st, 1927: Charles Lindbergh makes the very first transatlantic
flight, taking 30 hours to complete.
September 30th, 1927: Babe Ruth hits his 60th home run, breaking his
own record of 59, that will hold for more than 30 years.
November 18th, 1928:
Steamboat Willie premiers, marking the new era
of digital animation, and introducing Mickey Mouse.
December 14th, 1929: The date of the Saint Valentine's Day Massacre, Al
Capones gang kills six of their rival gang.
October, 1929: The stock market crashes, signaling the onset of the Great
Depression.
