By Sara Linden
This is a genealogical index for The Tecumseh Cook Book, published by the ladies of the
Tecumseh Presbyterian church in 1905. The contributing woman’s name was always used
if provided and her title was “Mrs.” unless otherwise indicated by “Miss” (in some
circumstances, the woman used her husband’s first name). The contributor’s town was
also included if it was listed in the text. Not all contributors listed their towns; it is my
belief that the towns were only specially included if they were from outside of Tecumseh,
OK. Any spelling peculiarities were retained because they may have been integral to the
family’s concept of the recipe. Also, each contributor’s entry tended to reflect ingredients,
since the book’s table of contents already organized the foods by type, unless further
organization was needed for clarity.
