EDITORIAL

This idea started after i took a look at the group

i had set up. I think that its not enough just
sharing or posting pictures in a facebook group.
A maskers group could be much more about
posting and sharing pictures, if everyone is into
creating something different and interesting.
Thats why I come up with this idea of creating a
small magazine, of which this first number is just
about foam latex maskers. Many of us have
some sort of a secret with this kind of mask. For
some its just more or less a fetish while others
go into the next level and mix their normal lives
with latex.
I have to thank all those who helped to put this
publication together. I couldnt have done it
without them. Many of them like Daniel Handal
or Diggerman, didnt know me and immediately
helped out. Im truly blessed and proud of this
small piece of work and hope that everyone
enjoys it as much as we enjoyed working on it.

SPECIAL FOOTBALL MASKER

The Atlantic brought up an

article about the life of female
maskers. They talked with Kerry
,one of the most well-known
people on the scene, and she
shared many thoughts about
this kind of fetish. Fortunately it
was also possible to interview
Daniel Handal, one of the first
photographers who brought to
the galleries the secret life of
living dolls .

The UKs Channel 4 aired a
probably one of the few
documentaries about masking
and pup play. The secret Life of
Human Pups shows the daily life
of a human pup, in particular
Tom, who is the main character
in this story. He spoke about his

SUBJECT: EXPERIENCE IN PUBLIC

[The story] of my experience of wearing a mask in public is
that whenever I wore it, I was out smoking in my community
When Im in the mask, i think theres no one who can
recognize who I really am - so Ive tried to be a freak to annoy
strangers and passengers. I even ask if I can hug them (I
always pick the men) and once a policeman said that
someone had reported me to him for annoying anothers. So
the policeman asked me to take the mask off. I did and
pretended I was drunk and playing a game with friends.
So the policeman accompanied me home and warned me not
to do it again. But i still go out to smoke and wear the mask
sometimes after midnight.

TIAGO
It was in the weekend of Halloween when i was outside with
my arnold greyland mask. I went into a party in rubber gear
and then I started to take some selfies to post later on
Facebook. While i was taking some pictures i didnt realise
that a guy passed by at the same time that i took off my
mask.
He said that i looked much better than that awfull face. I
asked him if he was avaiable to take some pictures and he
agreed without any problem. After that we talked while i was
hearing that face and he asked me to touch my skin
because looked so real. It was a very cool experience and
here is a picture do prove it.

What crossed your mind, when you first got into

contact with female masking?
Dolls reminded me of the age-old stories of the
inanimate creature come to life Pygmalions
Galatea, Gepettos Pinocchio and the androids of
science fiction with the twist that here the creator
is also the creation.

The plan of going to Rubberdoll world rendezvous

got you in a rubber suit and mask to be able to enter
and photograph all those dolls. After your own
transformation, did you, at that point, really feel like
you were on the inside of the fetish world?
To be honest, I didnt enjoy dressing up. Its too
uncomfortable for me. I can however relate to the
fantasy of wanting to be objectified so I am getting
my kicks mainly by working on my project and
looking. Since my primary interest was making
beautiful photographs in the end I remain an
outsider, however at times I have felt I am on the
inside since I can relate and I have developed
friendships in the process.

What was the boldest thing you've

done/experienced while working on this project?
One Rubberdoll Rendevous, we all decided to go out
to a club. That was a daunting experience as its not
easy to be dolled up .. being in a dark unfamiliar club
added to the challenge.

Social media has brought down some walls, and

shown everyone the world of female masking. This
brought some understanding of the fetish. Does the
role of social media offer a positive attitude towards
the taboo on the fetish?
Social media and the internet in general exposes
people to all sorts of things they may not normally
get exposed to. This normalizes all sorts of things in
culture. There are people out there with all sorts of
prejudices, though, and some of these people may
not have an open mind some of these people,
well.. they are just not reachable. But thats ok. I
think the overall role of social media is positive.
Wearing a doll mask and looking like an animate
object come to life is treading strange ground so its
understandable that some people might feel
uncomfortable no matter what.

You said in a interview, I hope that when people

look at the photos, they see a complex and curious
sensibility." Tell me about the feedback. Can this
fetish be fully understood?
I am not sure desire needs to be fully understood. I
am not an academic though so maybe this is more
of a question for someone who studies and writes
about psychology/anthropology. I am sure a thesis
could be written on just about anything. I will say that
when I first started working on the project I wasnt
really clear as to why I was drawn to it. Now that Ive
worked on it and completed the project I understand
how it relates to my life.

With all the struggles and responsibilities in our

normal, mundane daily lives, do you think it helps to
have this 'secret identity' as an excape?
My gut feeling is that secrets are not good for
anyone. Id say that if someone likes to dress up like a

This fetish can be seen as a deep and intimate

transformation. How did you feel about undergoing
the transformations yourself?
It was like walking in an alternative universe.

Are you going to have a new exibition opening up

soon?
I dont have any plans right now. But I am looking to
continue working on this project .. now that Ive
photographed dolls, I am looking to photograph
women who are doms and /or people who are into

How did it start all this big adventure of being Dian?

Well Dian Simone started as Elana, but after a
relationship ended, I ended the name and started
using Dian Simone. Also because my ex-girlfriend
found out I used the name as an alias, I thought it
would be better to get rid of it completely.
Describe to us youre first time with a mask.
The first time? Thats quite some time ago. I
remember seeing a website where they sold a mask
very similar to the Greyland mask. This is before I
discovered Maskon. I eventually bought one from the
site and I remember seeing another person in the
mirror. The face wasnt the nicest of faces but it was
the start of my alternative identity. I also
remembered the smell, which stayed on my face for
the rest of the day, weird foam latex smell.
Wearing a mask is all about the illusion of being
somebody else. How can you describe Dians
character?

Because of that, I actually hated it and I couldnt see

me wearing it. But then you try it on, make some
alterations, you have the right dress and the right
hair and all of a sudden its your favorite mask.
Before that I had several others of which the Liv Mask
I have worn the longest before the Sin Fan one. I
always loved the Emerald and Sheila masks of Kerry,
but never got around in buying one. The same goes
for several Celes masks and the recent CreaFX mask.
How did you get in touch with it in the first place?
In a dream hahaha! As a teenager I once dreamt
wearing the mask of a girl in high school I knew. It felt
pretty awesome. And of course all the films and TV
series like the V series, Hellraiser 2 and the mission
impossible series. But my real first encounter was on
the Internet as I said earlier.
What is a normal day like for Dian?

Dian is another part of me. She is very different from

me but also similar. She is very demanding, loves
fashion and does things my other self doesnt do
often. She is more outgoing, maybe.

Well Dian never gets a day so its usually restricted to

a few hours. On rare occasions, I had opportunities to
mask for 8 hours or so. No matter how long the time I
have, it always starts with suiting up, donning the
mask and putting on the wig and it ends with taking it
all off again.

When and where did you start to transform?

During the day do you miss transforming yourself?

Ive always been transforming from a young age. I

killed my lifesize teddybear to turn it into a mask. At
one time I even tried to be a Transformer. I always
wanted to become someone else. A second persona.
But I also felt it was something personal. So I always
kept it hidden.

Not really, not on a daily basis. I do like looking at

other women and get inspiration for Dians wardrobe
or style. But when I havent masked in a while and I
put it on, I do feel Dian coming alive. Its like Im
breathing life into another person or something.
What is one of your biggest fantasies?

Tell us about your favorite mask?

Well up to now, the Greyland masks are my favorite
and the Sin Fan is currently the one I wear the most.
Its not a perfect out of the box fit, so I have to
modify it, more than the other Greyland masks.

My biggest fantasies? I would love to spend an

extended period masked posing as a woman, doing
daily things, blending in a crowd, alone or with other
maskers. Do things like: going out to a club,

going shopping and so on. If there ever is an

opportunity to have a perfect bodysuit, I would love
to try a day at the beach. I also would like to make a
film about masking. I actually have written a story for
a film concept. But I am wondering how to pull that
off even if I am a filmmaker.
Dealing with a mask fetish and sometimes managing
a relationship at the same time, is not easy. How do
you manage?
When the relationship is serious, I hardly mask. I even
have thrown out my entire wardrobe and masks to
focus on the relationship. I always say that one
woman is enough to share my life with and Dian
would feel like the third wheel. Of course when the
relationship ends, Dian is there for me. I have never
told anyone I have dated or had a relationship with
what my other hobby is. But I can imagine that it is
not an easy thing to do. Still it would be nice to find
someone to share it with or at least somebody who
understands it.

So I looked in the
mirror and thought, It

A story? Usually its going out the door scarfed, going
round the block, smoking one and going inside.
Sometimes you get looked at, but usually they cant
look behind the mask, because people dont expect
you to be masked in the first place and are not
looking for it. The bad thing is I cant go out all the
time as I can only do this when no one else is in the
house. (I live with some other housemates, who I
share the house with).
So one night almost everyone had left the house,
except me and one other person. This other guy
hardly leaves his room. So I was all dressed up in my
room, masked and I was trying out a basic blue dress,
leather jacket and some ankle boots. So I looked in
the mirror and thought it would be a waste not to go
outside in this outfit and smoke one. So I hesitated
and listened for noises from the room of my
housemate to see if there were any indications that
he would get out anytime soon. I waited five minutes
or so to verify the coast was really clear. Then I sneak
outside, close the door, sprint up the stairs without
making any sound, pass his room go up one more
level, open the front door, close the door and lock it.

I took a deep breath and took off my heels to go

down the stairs. My room is in the attic, so I have to
pass everyone elses room, go past the kitchen
through the living room to go the back garden and
hope the night-light doesnt go off, once I go outside.
So I unlock the door, close and lock it. I go down
silently and swiftly and I make it to back door. I open
it and the light stays out fortunately. I put on my
boots, close the door and have a smoke. Mission
accomplished. At least thats what I thought. I was
ready to go inside again and then I look through the
window and notice the light in the kitchen is
suddenly turned on. My flatmate is downstairs! I
quickly hide behind the wall and think of what to do.
Worst case scenario I stay here all night outside, no
way to go inside again. Or he goes outside as well for
a smoke and discovers me. I peek through the
window again. The light goes out! I put my head
against the wall. Saved! Hopefully. I wait a few more
minutes to make sure the coast is clear. I was
breathing heavily and burning up, but I made it! And
that was the last time I went outside masked.

Hi Im Maskerism.
I Hope you enjoy this small project of mine. Simply,
the mask transformation. I used my Greyland mask
named Greymas to create this sequence. I love the
feeling of latex getting thighter and tighter until it
completely fuses and becames my skin.
Well, at least I can imagine it. ;)

NEIGHBOUR
The sound of the door-bell interrupted the two young
lovers, just as things were beginning to get
interesting. Their quiet Friday night in was proving
more exciting than they'd originally anticipated and it
was with a small sigh of disappointment, that Matt
drew back from Drew and began to sit up. His
progress was arrested by Drew's quick reactions. He
stretched out his hand and grabbed Matt by his Tshirt drawing him back down for a passionate kiss,
before the doorbell rang again and the two men
reluctantly parted.
"Coming" Matt yelled as he disentangled himself
from Drew, who was making half-hearted playful
attempts to keep Matt with him on the sofa, grabbing
at Matt's shirt. He extracted himself from his
boyfriend's clutches and headed for the door. He
stopped a second to check his fly was closed and then
opened the door.
He was greeted by the familiar but far from
welcoming face of his neighbour, Janice Roberts.
Janice had never made any secret of her dislike of
having a faggot for a next door neighbour, but had
never been blunt enough to say so to Matt's face.
Instead she relied on a lifetime's carefully honed skills
of put-down's and backstabbing to make her feelings
known to the neighbourhood.

"Well hello Mrs. Roberts. How can I help?" Asked

Matt. She sniffed audibly and made a small grimace.
In her mid-40s but trying to look 10 years younger,
she hated anyone suggesting she was getting old,
which was why Matt took every opportunity to rub in
the fact that he was a good twenty years younger.
Since he was only being polite there was no way she
could overtly take offence, but they both knew the
point Matt was making. Janice glanced over Matt's
shoulder to where Drew was stretched out on the
sofa, his shirt half undone, with his washboard abs on
display. "I hope I'm not interrupting you and your...
friend?" She asked Matt, managing to make the word
friend somehow sound synonymous with 'whore'.
Matt forced a smile. "Not at all," he replied "we were
just having a quiet night in. But what can I do for
you?" he asked.
Janice drew a set of house keys from her clutch bag.
"I'm away this weekend to visit my mother. And my
husband," again Janice managed to use one word to
convey another, this time the word husband sounded
like moron "has forgotten his keys and isn't home
from work yet. Could you hang on to these until he
gets home?" she finished. "If I hang on any longer I'll
miss my flight."
"Why sure, Mrs Roberts." said Matt, once again
gently stressing the Mrs. "Anything to help a
neighbour. Just tell him to call by, when he gets
home."
"I'll send him a message to that effect. Now if you
don't mind, I really must be going." said Janice as she
turned to leave.
"Bye now." said Matt, closing the door on her
departing back. He watched her head back inside her
own house, lost in thought for a few seconds until he
realises Drew had come to stand beside him and was
running his hands over Matt's shoulders. "God she is

such a Bitch, I don't understand what her husband

sees in her." said Matt as he watched her load her car
with her bags.
"Don't be too hard on the guy." said Drew "I hear
she's got all the money and has him tied up in some
watertight pre-nup." He began to massage Matt's
shoulders, digging his fingers firmly into Matt. Matt
made small noises of pleasure as Drew's hands
worked their way down his back. As his hands moved
towards Matt's butt, Drew leant forward and began
to nuzzle Matt's neck.
Matt watched as Janice locked up and got in her car.
As she pulled the car out, she had a clear view of the
two men standing in the window and the look of
disgust on her face was barely disguised. Matt raised
an arm and waved goodbye, a wide smile on his face.
He waited until she was out of sight and then turned
to Drew and led him back to the sofa.
"So where were we?" Asked Drew as he laid down on
the sofa.
"Wondering why Mike Roberts is still married to that
Bitch." replied Matt.
Drew sighed "I told you, it's not as straight forward as
it seems. Now can we forget about Mike for now and
just concentrate on the two of us?"
Matt sat back and laughed slightly bitterly "Now
who's trying to make out things are simpler than they
really are?"
Drew sat up. "You really want to do this? Now."
Matt nodded "Yes, now. Janice is away all weekend, if
we can't talk about it now, when can we?"
Drew looked like he was going to argue and then he
deflated slightly and nodded. "OK, you win."

Drew sat up straight and dug his fingers forcefully

into his neck, he pinched and tugged hard for a few
seconds before finding the edge he was looking for.
He pulled it sharply away from himself and with a
gelatinous sound, Drew's entire head and neck
came away in his hands.
In it's place was revealed a more mature but no
less good looking face. Now with a slight touch of
salt and pepper at the temples of his cropped hair
and a extra few laughter lines at the corner of his
eyes, it was the face of Mike Roberts. Mike sighed
and looked down at Drew's empty eyed face in his
hands.
Matt reached out and gently took Drew's face out of
Mike's hands. He held it up so Mike could see it,
"This is not the man I fell in love with." Matt said
"You are, Mike." He paused a second and then
continued. "Drew was just a shell I made for you to
hide inside, so we could be together without fear,
but he was never who I wanted to spend my life
with, that was you." As he spoke, Matt reached and
and stroked Mike's face. It still slightly sticky from
the adhesive and sweat and Mike's hair was matted
flat, but that didn't bother Matt, as he leant over and
kissed Mike. The slight smell of latex might have
put another man off, but Matt was used to it from
his job as a make-up artist. Truth be told, it got him
kind of turned on.
Mike closed his eyes for a few seconds and then as
Matt pulled away he opened them with a sigh.
"Baby I understand, I really do, but we've been over
this. She'll take me for every cent I've got if I ask for
a divorce. I know money's not everything, but I've
spent the last decade building my business up and
she'll destroy it just for the hell of it. You know what
she's like. What do you expect me to do?"

Inside was another mask, but this one was of a face

that was horribly familiar. Mike looked with a
stunned expression at a perfect replica of Janice's
face and looked over at Matt. Matt smiled at him,
"You know, I think there might be a way I could get
Janice to instruct her attorney to give you a 50:50
split in a divorce". A slow smile, spead across
Mike's face as he contemplated a future free from
the mistakes of his youth, with the man he loved,
the neighbour he needed.

saying anything, he reached behind the sofa and
pulled out a box about a foot high, wide and deep.
He passed it to Mike without saying anything. Mike
took the box, a slightly puzzled look in his face. He
set the box down on the sofa and opened it.
