1) Calculation of c, mx, my for cases A, B, C and a uniformly distributed load q
through elastic FEA
URN number = 6094777, A=7 & B=7. Thus q=77kN/m2:
c: vertical deflection at the slab centre
mx: bending moment in the mid-span section b-b
my: bending moment in the mid-span section a-a
Modelling of cases A, B, C using plate elements through SAP2000
Step 1: Open new model, units kN, m.
Step 2: Work on X-Y plane.
Step 3: Define material CONCRETE with E=30000000kPa and self-weight=25kN/m3.
Step 4: Define area section Slab, plate (thin) with thickness=0.2m.
Step 5: Draw Poly Area (4 points) for the slab perimeter (x=5m, y=15m) with Slab section.
Step 6: Select the area and generate mesh automatically with maximum element size 0.1m on both axes.
Step 7: Select the boundary nodes and assign them restraint condition Uz=0.
Case A: all boundary nodes, Case B: y axis boundary nodes, Case C: 4 edge nodes for pin support.
Step 8: Define Load Cases DEAD and UNIFORM. DEAD for the self-weight and
UNIFORM for load q (assign area loads, uniform -77kN/m2 in Z global axis).
Step 9: Run linear static analysis for both load cases.
