SCHEMCON is a students Chemical Engineering
Conference organized every year by the
students chapter of Indian Institute of Chemical
Engineers. This conference acts as a source of
encouragement and self-confidence for young
minds, which are considered as the most fertile
ground for generation of original and creative
ideas. SCHEMCON 2016 is the 12th edition of the
mega annual event that is being organized to
share the state-of-the art developments and
achievements made in field of chemical
engineering. The theme for this years conference is Chemical Engineering Cutting Edges-Towards Brighter Prospects.
This conference is being organized by the IIChE
student Chapter and Chemical Engineering
Department of B.V. Raju Institute of Technology
(BVRIT) in collaboration with IIChE-HRC, OUCT,
NITW, BITS-Hyd, JNTUA, CBIT & CVSR.

Chemical Engineering is a multidisciplinary field of applied
engineering dealing with the
production of a wide range of
products through material
processing, synthesis, process
development, scale-up, design
and operation of plants. The
modern chemical processes need
to be energy- and material
efficient, compact, flexible, less
toxic, safe, environmentally
benign and conducive to the
rapid commercialization of new
products. The scientific innovations including process intensification, process optimization, process
modeling & simulation and
process control makes this field
more versatile. The theme of the
conference provides a scope to
the student community to focus
on the developments and
advancements taking place in this
field of chemical engineering. The
theme is more relevant as this
region is a hub of pharmaceutical
and chemical industries .
INSTITUTION
BVRIT was established in the
year 1997 by Padmabhushan Dr.
B.V.Raju, a chemical engineer
from BHU and a doyen in the
cement industry. It is rated
among the leading engineering
colleges under JNTU Hyderabad. The institute is accredited
by NBA and NAAC and has
been conferred autonomous
status by UGC from the year
2014. The institution offers high
quality education to students
through best teaching and
learning practices and is guided
and monitored by a body of
distinguished professionals
from reputed educational
institutes and R&D sectors of
public and government
domain. It has now emerged as
a premier engineering college
in the state of Telangana. It has
several academic collaborations
with national and international
institutes. BVRIT has a distinct
status among private engineering colleges because of its
specialized labs, versatile
research centers, various
grant-in-aid projects, a dedicated training and learning center
to train faculty and students as
well as its societal and community service initiatives. BVRIT
offers 9 UG programs at B.Tech
level which include BME, CHE,
Pharmaceutical Eng, CSE, IT,
ECE, EEE, Mech & Civil. The
institute also offers 8 PG
programs at M.Tech level
including CHE, CSE, Software
Engg, VLSI Design, Embedded
Systems, Electrical Power
Systems, Design Eng, Power
Eng & Energy Syst. as well as
MBA.
The institute is led by Sri K.V.
Vishnu Raju under the aegis of
Sri Vishnu Educational Society
(SVES). Sri Vishnu Raju is an
industrialist, educationist and
social entrepreneur and is a
graduate in Chemical Engineering from REC Trichi and post
graduate in Chemical Engineering from Michigan Technological University (USA).
Dr. Ch. Venkateswarlu is the
principal of this institute who
was earlier chief scientist
(Director Grade) at Indian
Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad, a premier
research and development
(R&D) institute of Council of
Scientific and Industrial
Research (CSIR) with nationally
and internationally recognized
significant R&D contributions.
BVRIT is located in
greater Hyderabad, 75
minutes drive by road
from Secunderabad
Railway station and
Airport. The campus is
spread over 110 acres of
land and away from the
din of the city. It hosts
over 5000 students
(both UG & PG
programs) and shapes
them to become proficient in their area of
specialization.

The department of chemical engineering
established in the year 1997 has been
successfully producing chemical
engineers, with almost 100 %
placements and higher education
opportunities. The students produced by
this department have occupied top
positions in various industries and
pursued higher education in top
institutes in India and abroad. The
department has highly qualified faculty
selected from reputed institutes like IITs
and NITs, and faculty with vast experience in industry and research organizations of National/International repute.
The department has various research
projects sponsored from government
agencies like DST and UGC and consultancy assignments from industries like
Dr. Reddy Laboratories. The specialized
research centers and the sponsored
projects of the department enable the
students and faculty to pursue advanced
research projects.
M.P. CHARY AWARD
The award is given to outstanding researcher in the field of chemical engineering.
The award has to be an outstanding young chemical engineering below 35 years of
age, doing Ph.D or completed Ph.D in recent time, who will be required to make a
presentation on his research work. The award carries M.P. Chary medal and a prize
money of Rs. 10000 /- from IIChE.
